IMO WASHED UP MEANS THAT YOU PLAIN RAN OUT OF TOPICS AND OR CREATIVITY LYRICALLY AND PRODUCTIVELY....LIKE THE BRAIN STOPPED EXPANDING...ITS ABOUT EVOLUTION...I WOULDN'T BE MAD IF SOME BAY ARTISTS USED MORE MELODIES AND THINGS LIKE THAT, BUT IT SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE IS TOO COOL OR TOO HARD TO "SING"...YOUR VOICE IS AN INSTRUMENT.....RAP/HIP HOP LIKE ANY OTHER GENRE IS MUSIC, THERE ISN'T A AGE LIMIT....ITS ABOUT THE SONIC QUALITY OF MUSIC AND DIVERSE VERSATILITY THAT ONE WOULD DISPLAY TO GET PEOPLES ATTENTION AWAY FROM THEIR AGE....WORKING OUT EATING HEALTHY ETC ARE THINGS ARTISTS CAN DO TO STAY YOUTHFUL...

The question is do any of them have the heart and dedication to make another classic - classic in terms of really making music true to them, putting quality 1st, sounding inspired, and not making a song with the mind set of oh maybe radio will play this.

The classic we speak of.have those qaulities. Its hard for a vet to reignite that flame. E40 was closes, but still fell a little short

Most rappers start off hungry then after the money, fame, age, substance abuse, dick riding, etc. they can't make good music anymore, they just live off their old music and their fan base's love and nostalgia for 'the good old days'.

But how can you hate on a rapper's voice changing when they started rapping as young teenagers anyway?

there are so many dope rappers from the bays 'heyday' who are still dope, and who have matured and could probably make music us 'classic bay area mobb music' fans could relate to, but the game is saturated, and everyone is making beats and feeding these cats these beats and this production that is ridiculously subpar for free. When beatmakers, producers and studios werent a dime a dozen, cats knew they had to use their time to the best of their ability. Now in the age of free beats, studio time, slapped together albums and never ending release dates, cats can throw something against the wall until it sticks. That only hurts and jades the fans.
Like I always say 99.9 percent of "free" looks, sounds, smells, and tastes like shit. But then..., you get what you pay for, don't you?. Oh, and to all you so-called "producers","directors", "photographers", and "graphic artists", who essentially enable these rappers to unleash entire albums of junky, non-cohesive bullshit onto the masses, for free, with almost no investment of their own...?????

Stop fooling yourselves. YOU ARE NOT PROFESSIONALS! Any one who gives their work away for free is an amateur at best. Professionals get paid for their work. And don't try to fool yourself into thinking, "Well I only gave the cat ONE freebie." Thats what you ALL think and do. They just get twelve or so of you to give 'em one freebie apiece, and guess what? Thats the album that gets released (or should I say ESCAPES???).

If they don't have to invest any of their own loot into an album then they won't spend the time and effort to make sure that their investment will pay off. And if they have to pay for the production, videos, photography, and graphics work, I guarantee you they will seek out the best their money can buy, not some "Joe Shmoe" who really just wants to rub shoulders with their favorite rappers to impress their friends...

for the most part, every rapper you just mentioned has a track record from their early 20's. they were all put out nationally in their 20's.....

i think what is meant is, if your over 30 and your name is still only local then hopefully you realize its just gonna be a hobby. it is a young mans game.

how many 35 year old rappers are gonna drop a "debut" album anytime soon?
LOL No they didn't Jay-Z didn't blow up until he was damn near 30, same with Rick Ross. Em didn't blow up until he was in his mid 20's same with Kanye. Lupe is the youngest one and that dude was 24-25 when he dropped his first album.

Here's where I think we have a misunderstanding... When yall refer to someone being "young" I'm assuming you're talking about people aged 18-23 years old. I'm in my mid 20's so I look at someone who was born in 88-90 as being young..So when you say young man's game that's who I'm thinking of..

If you're 30 and you're still local it's just a hobby?...Again, that applies to 99.9% of bay area rappers today. The only rappers who have had national success are the small handfull of guys who were putting stuff out in the early and mid 90's. The majority of the bay has been underground or "local" since rap caught on out here.Thread is kind of pointless if you're using that logic.

I get what you're saying about rappers dropping debut albums at 35 but that's rare..the vast MAJORITY of rappers have 2 or 3 albums out before they are 35.

What makes people think these rappers are "local"??? Maybe y'all "think" they're local cause you haven't been outta state to see if their albums are out there!!! I've had alotta people ask me am I a local rapper and I told thdm "NO", I'm a worldwide rapper!!! Now it depends on how the term local !! If I'm in Oakland and some one asks me if I'm a local rapper imma take it as meaning am I from the area...... I take it on here that people are saying local as in that person is just known locally!! If you got a legit Dustribution deal and your selling units in other states then your more then local!!!! If you ruden around town tryen to sell units out your trunk in front of walmarts and never been outta town or state wit your shit..... Then your local!!!
