That right there has enabled everyone with zero talent to become a "rapper"...Technology is a double edged sword. It helps us and hurts us at the same time.

They do make what they want to make, but the entire south SUPPORTS THEM! The Bay doesn't get to do what they want because nobody in the region is really out there supportin', buying their shit, etc. etc.

Southern artists sell 10's of thousands and hundreds of thousands independently, because they connect with the fans and the fans love what they do, period. That's what the south has that we lack out here in the Bay.
Hella bay rappers have a fucked up attitude when it is time for them to connect with a new fan, so they don't gain em'. Most of them are not ready to be supported. It is not by accident that the artist most of the threads end up being about as far a success goes, is one of the most humble.

There is alot of wrong things in the bay. Like Chuck I travel the world and talk with alot of influencial people in the music industry and they all same the same thing there are no national hits coming out of the bay period and I agree. You need to realize radio is not going to conform to you you have to conform to them. These artist want to be and need to be on radio the radio dont need you becuz they will have somebody else who will fit there needs. Itz a business and it aint a non profit business. Quit focusing on KMEL what about kyld, kdon, kwin, kbos, kewb, khtn, kisv, kseq, ksfm, kbmb, kwwv, kyzz, and kbds. ALL these stations are rhytmic radio, all within 200 miles of the bay and there not playing your so called hit records either. If you cant get these stations to play your record then why should the number 3 station in the country play your record?

Most of these artist need to realize putting out a album and spending less then 15k on there project is not going to result in major success. If it was that cheap every bay area investor would all be doing it. It takes more then myspace to promote a album. It takes grass roots promotions going from city to city to promote and hiring real deal street promo teams in major markets. All of this is not happening anymore in the bay.

The hottest artist in the hoods in the bay im not talkin about the bart board hood is rick ross, gucci mane, and shawty lo. The bay needs to take there own streets back and sell records here in there own back yard. The majority of the bay is lucky that the pacific northwest oregon, washington, montanta, alaska, idaho, and utah dont have strong enough artists of there own cuz thats the last market where bay acts are doing a majority of there concerts and selling cds at. Nobody is doing concerts past denver on a regular basis except 40 and short. LiL wayne sold 20k records his 1st week in the bay alone thats more then any has sold over all in every market who has came out since 2006 except 40,short, and the 1st pack album.
How do a nigga wanna be on the radio when his shit aint even beatin non-stop down his own block? Even is his hood, let alone his city.

I'm tired of hearing about how The Bay is dead cause Bay Fans don't support Bay Artists. Thats not the problem. The problem is is that most of you niggaz is delusional! You can call it hate or you can call it whatever you want, but I'ma tell it like it T-I-IZ regardless.

Just cause you grab a mic and mumble some bullshit into it don't make you an artist. And just cause we from the same chunk of soil don't mean I gotta support your delusional habits. MOST of you so called artists ARE BOO BOO! a.k.a. NOT TALENTED! You never have been... and you never will be.

There... I said it. So go ahead, call me a hater, bombard me with internet threats, I don't give a fuck. The truth is the truth and many of you fools need to be introduced to that fact. Just cause you really, really, hella, hella, wanna be a rap star WILL NOT MAKE IT SO!

I'm not a hater. In fact I'm far from it, and in all actuality the truth of the matter is that most of YOU are. Thats how the wackness spreads. One wack muthafucka slips through the cracks and a million other wack ass haters say to themselves, "Hey I can do better than him!" and thus, the vicious cycle begins.

Just stop lyin' to yourselves. Better yet just stop trying to be the final judge on whether or not you are talented. Thats not your job. Thats the fans job, and evidently the fans have spoken. Just exactly who are you to tell a fan that he or she doesn't know what they like. Your arrogance is out of hand. You think that just because you can imitate some other bum who slipped through the cracks the fans are just supposed to just drop to their knees and
and start giving you jaw? See, what most of you don't realize is that what the first bum had on his side was novelty. The fact that at LEAST he invented his wack ass style and introduced something new to the game. You? you're just refried wackness. Too scared to step out on a limb and show some initiative. As far as I can see nigga, THE LANE IS CLEAR. Shit! This is THE opportune time to rise to the occasion. Everybody is lookin' for a leader while you sittin over there cryin' about how it's everyone elses fault that you ain't stuffin' your pockets wit dough.

You know what i think? I think you niggaz need to check yourselves and stop starin at the sky waitin' for Captain-Save-A Hoe to save ya. The Bay aint dead. Nah, it's just full of dead ass niggaz. An entire generation of lames. Used to be full of players and hustlers. Now it's just filled will cryin ass man children and wack ass wannabees.

Good point. My question for you is, what's your take on all the artists that sell in other regions, but not the bay? There's a lot of cats that step out of their soil and make bread...but when they come back nobody is supportin' 'em and tellin' 'em they're wack. In that case, maybe it's not the artist...maybe it's the region. I see a lot of hate out here, and a lot of cats tryin' to bring somebody down before they even raise up.

I understand there's a lot of boo boo shit out there, but there's also a lot of shit that's slept on because cats out here don't want to see somebody bubble if they can't bubble too.

I feel like were having conversation in relation to the Presidential election (how every politician has an idea on how to fix something, i.e Healthcare, Social Security, etc)

No one knows the answer. And one or two suggestions on how to "fix" this will probably not amount to anything. I think this thread was a great idea because it gets the word out to the fans who probably do not have any idea of how bad the situation is. And I do agree that we need the fans to buy albums, because thats what keeps it going.

I agree that we should be supporting our local artist more. At the same time these local artists need to put out good music. I can honestly say that most albums that have come out lately are not cutting the mustard. But overall we are going to need a slew of changes for things to come back around. Even then, things will not be the same as in our hay day (90's) because of decrease in album sales.

I guess my point is that KMEL is NOT the reason why things are like this. And thanks to E-40, we had some light for a minute. But it takes more than one person to make it pop. He definitely needs recognition for what he has done his entire career. A lot of families and artists have been able to put food on the table, clothes on backs, and so forth because of that man. More importantly, he puts out quality albums, and is diversified enough with his artist features to increase sales EVERYWHERE (not just the bay area). Remember the Southwest Riderz comp? I loved that double album!

Everybody get on Jacka's back and ride along. Should be an interesting end of 2008.

I know everyone has an opinion, so I will just leave it at that and ask you to go and get the Jacka album when it comes out in September. I promise you that its a QUALITY album (Jacka spent 2 years recording it). There are minimal leaks, top notch production, and our business game is good enough to get the word out to the fans everywhere. I think that is all we need to be successful.

he definately doesnt act ignorrant and from what i've seen, treats people correctly. you know some of us do our jobs as bay supporters. im behind jacka and know you guys get out of this region and do it moving elsewhere. if i said i felt all his shit id be lying but he does his job and takes it as such.in the end if your not getting it who do you got to blame but yourself. the good thing is jacka get support out in the bay area.
