I think if you pay like $3000 for a rapper with soundclick beat, ur doomed for fail.

Maybe $3000 for a feature, $3000 for a industry ready beat to hit radio, and like $5000 on promotion/ payola (radio)

and u would need to sell 11k of the single on itunes just to break even... just putting things in perspective it takes money to make money - and even then its not a sure thing

you have to have a really clear cut idea of how you're going to make more money than what you spend on a project.

one thing a lot of bullshit run-of-the-mill myspace rappers do is think just because they make music someone's going to want to put it in their car stereo. now more than ever people are fucking haters, audiences are discerning. if you spend 2 racks on an album there might not be $500 worth of fan dollars on planet earth that give a fuck about listening to you for you to recoup.

I'VE ALWAYS ONLY BOUGHT CD'S IF I LIKED THE WHOLE ALBUM AND THATS NOT COMMON ANYMORE. I WOULD RATHER BY A BOOK ABOUT A RAPPERS LIFE THAN HEAR THEM RAP 9 TIMES OUTTA 10. MUSIC,THE RADIO,THE STREETS,THE GAME IN GENERAL IS NOT THE SAME.
SOME OF US MADE ADJUSTMENTS AND SOME DIDNT. TIME WILL TELL EVERYTHING.MY THEORY IS STILL....GOOD MUSIC SELLS AND BAD MUSIC DOESNT.SIMPLE AND REALISTIC.15 YEARS LATER I TRULY FEEL TUPACS DEATH WAS ONE OF THE WORST THINGS THAT EVER HAPPENED 2 THE MUSIC INDUSTRY.IT REALLY SERVED AS AN INJUSTICE 2 US WHO HAVE MAJOR PRIDE IN THE WEST!! MY ADVICE 2 EVERYONE IS MASH HARD OR GET MASHED ON....ITS REAL OUT HERE.GG

it makes it tough for dudes just trying to make a living off music but kids these days are tripping off the shit they see on TV. not what's poppin in the streets, not what someone's track record is for making music.

tv rap is what's poppin the streets. MD seen it a long time ago, that's why it was a big deal to dre to do his shit on a rap star level to show someone from northern california could shine like that.

I've definitely bought albums because of the features and like I talked about before, bought hella compilations because of one track by someone I knew and maybe found out about a couple new dudes. I found out about Woodie like that and heard my first Guce song on a compilation. Heard my first few MEssy Marv songs cause of compilations. But as time went on, I was buying them and maybe got 2 good songs for my money and that's messed up to me.

I remember hearing Haystak outta Tennessee say that he puts everything he has into his albums because he realizes that the people he's rappin for may not have 12-15 bucks to spend on music but if they spend that money, he really wants to make sure they got their money's worth. The bible says that the man that gives everything he has ends up with more than he started with (not verbatim) but the greedy man ends up with nothing. That seems to be how the music game is going in a lot of places right now. They're trying to make quick money and bringin the whole game down.

Nobody's really selling records so if there's no money in it, whats that verse really worth?
thats the new reality......

Tay mentioned shit about producers, and i think the biggest problem in the game besides it havin waaay too many boo boo rappers is havin waaaay too many boo boo "producers".......i dont hear too many wack artists now a days cus i still mostly listen to shit from the 90's, but even when i do listen to even a good artists albums i hear crap beats.......
its all bad when you hear a dope rapper over a jank beat but its worse when that dope rapper is a good artist..........

speakin of... these cats need to jump on some Cataracs, that'd be worth the investment if they got a solid (not just in their/homies eyes) ass album to back it up........

remember back in the days when you would hit the record store and dig through all the new releases and find some rapper you never heard of, and buy it based on a feature or two, and next thing you know youre listening to the tightest album that nobody has heard of....

i miss those days, 80% of the cd's and music i get now get a few spins, ejected, and then one final spin....out the window.

THE SICCNESS.....

IS THE ONLY PLACE U CAN GET 100 DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHIES ABOUT THE MUSIC BIZ EVEN THOUGH 90% OF THE PHILOSOPHERS HAVE NEVER SOLD ANY RECORDS OR EVEN HAVE A BUSINESS LICENSE. I MISS THE 90'S TOO BUT REALITY IS....PEOPLE GROW AND THINGS CHANGE.
I FEEL LIKE THE GAME GOT TARNISHED WHEN FANS BECAME RAPPERS AND AVERAGE JOES WITH NO REAL MONEY BECAME CEO'S...ALL THIS MADNESS CAME WITH THE NEW MILLINEUM. MY BEST ADVICE IS 2 MAKE A LOGICAL PLAN AND STICC WITH IT. there will always be-"DIFFERENT STROKES 4 DIFFERENT FOLKS".100

I would charge $1,000 for a "Ugly Nigga" verse and it might go cheaper so $800.00-$1,000.00. But look what I give the customer for their value.
You have never, not 1 time sold a verse to anyone. Just like you have never sold a T shirt. Your scheme is wack as fuck, and failure looms as your only future. Stop lying to the people.

I hate for this to be my first post, but it is what it is.

The truth is...you missed the whole point of my sales pitch...

I have never sold a shirt? So I got em printed up...100's of 'em to the 1,000's and gave em away free...?

But I wanna give you the lane...explain to me why my scheme is wack and do you have a better approach (what a way to make this your first post on siccness SMFH!)?
