I actually think N-Ridaz helps the quality CD's that should be bought and makes artists "step they game up" on those shitty CD's that should have never been put out in the first place.
Exactly ^^

this ryan cat sounds like he is tryina proteck the artists that put together half-ass albums so he can get some change.

N-Ridaz is good shit, i spend time listening to albums on there. if the Artist puts alotta effort in the album, i'll buy it.

but like that Luni album - 14 TRACKS (1 KEAK, 1 MOB FIGGAS, and 2 INSTRUMENTALS) Thats a bullshit album, i might still buy it just cause its Luni, but really thats some half-ass shit to me.

NRidaz is not doing anything different then cd stores. You can walk into most any cd store, and listen to an entire album before buying it. who the fuck would rip some mono quality shit and wanna bump that in their car. Anyone who is against what nridaz is doing, is probably just covering up the fact that their product is weak and fearful that people wont buy into things and end up stuck with a garbage cd that was falsely advertised.

Then I would still say its safe to say that well over half the people on this site burn cds instead of buying them, without a doubt.

I personally like nridaz but I also appreciate when they just put about half of our songs up for people to preview. Fans dont realize just how much money and time is put into most cds and how aggrivating it is to just see it burned for free.
Just give me one reason, why shouldn't full songs be posted. One reasonable reason.

"Cause ppl will download it / rip it / burn it" is not reasonable. People won't do it. Paeople DON'T do it. Nobody wants that shitty quality. If abybody doesn't want to pay for an album, he'll use irc or some p2p program.

One reason, just one.

i have never even used n-ridaz, but i wont be supporting rapbay anymore, like mean mugg said, i as well have taken a business communication class, and he was very unprofessional. rapbay never screwed me off my order, but i will no longer be supporting them. on a sidenote, i think a majority of the bay no blowing is cuz half of these ceo of companies have no idea on how to run a business...heres an idea, go to school, get a degree and education in business, then start one.....

Here's My Two Cents!!

N-RIDAZ saved me from buying TONS of weak ass albums! Rapbay does supply local rap fans with good local rap music.. but then again so does Rasputin and Amoeba! If Rasputin and Amoeba were to go full-force with their Internet Sales, then Rapbay would be CRUSHED in an instant! Yes, Rasputins are already on the internet, but they are not focused with their internet sales!!

N-RIDAZ is indeed an excellent "Internet Listening Station" in support of the Artists and Customers! Artists are able to promote their albums by allowing the fans to preview tracks from their album whereas customers are able to make a decision whether to purchase the album or not. Some record stores in the past and present allowed customers to preview the entire album through listening stations even without the artists' consent (i.e. Tower/Rasputin/Amoeba)! As a matter of fact, do you think Amazon gets consent for every album they allow their customers to preview?? Rememeber these are well known and successful artists as well.

Why can't N-Ridaz allow local rap fans to preview the entire album before making a purchasing decision?? And also why only allow 30 seconds of preview?? A 30-second preview is not long enough for a customer to decide if a song in the album is good or not. You cannot use Amazon as an example for their 30 second preview on albums.. even a dumb ass kat in the streets would know that Amazon carries over thousands of albums and does not have the space to allow full track previews. IMO, N-Ridaz are only acting as an Internet Listening Station with no harm intended!! If they have all of the server space available to create full track previews, then sobeit!

If an artist is afraid of album sales because of N-Ridaz then they should have put more effort in an album rather than making an "just cause" album. Often times some artists tend to put out albums and expect to make sales because of their name! By preventing previews of an album, then their sales would not be as affected. Doesn't that sound like a motive to why this matter was brought up?? Hmmmm.... not just by the artist, but the intermediary that's selling the album!?!

I couldnt imagine how posting an album in the lowest real audio quality possible for fans to listen could hurt the record industry. N-Ridaz is the best thing to happen to the Bay Area since they decided to rebuild the second span of the Bay Bridge.

The people in this thread who seem to take offense to NRidaz appear to be people from the industry. Artists should give consent before their whole album is posted up... but in any case NRidaz is great because it exposes wack ass cds. If you arent makin sales step your game up and dont blame SadClown for givin your sound an oppurtunity.

^^^ One CD that N-Ridaz saved me from wasting my money was that Word Pimpin' CD by Q-Z & Baby S! They made the album seem like it was B-Legit's album when really he was only featured on a track or two.. a total of 60-80 seconds! See what I mean!?! I'm glad I previewed the album on N-Ridaz before purchasing that wack ass cd!

Posted by Kerry for Ryan:

Yo, I just want to let everyone know that I never asked SadClown to take down northen-ridaz.com. I also never said that the site does not help out artists. I never mentioned anything at all about lawyers, suing or anything like that. I didn't come at Sadclown all crazy. I may have been a little upset but I was polite. I like Northern-Ridaz and a few of my own employees use the site on a regular basis. Also I know people go to rapbay via a link from the Northern-Ridaz site because I can see it in my traffic log. Im sure some of those resulted in sales and I want norther-ridaz.com to make money off of that.

But I just feel that northern-ridaz.com should start to work more direct with labels, artists, companies, etc... If the label, artist, company wants NR to put up the whole album up then so be it that is Great. But some labels dont want their whole album up. I would rather Northern-ridaz work together with rapbay or whoever, but more like an info site that has samples of tracks (maybe even 2 full tracks) (full albums if thats what the artist wants), art work, interviews, bios, shows, etc. That would be VERY beneficial for the whole industry not just rap fans. When NR hosts Full length albums up for everyone to enjoy, its not right. It not only affects Rapbay but the whole rap industry. We work hard everyday, just like you, to bring you the BEST rap music in the world. I am not some guy who just decided that putting the entire album up is wrong. If you go to www.rapbay.com you can see who we are working with, and its more than likely that we are working with the artist directly. Some frustrated artists have called me directly to ask wha'ts going on with northern-ridaz and if I'm the one who is sending them the whole album to post up.

I don't want to make any enemies but if protecting artists rights is wrong to some people then I guess some people are not going to like me. And for rapbay, its a community of Labels, Rappers, Djs, Companies, Etc. that sell on our site. By telling people Rapbay.com (Ryan) shut down northern-ridaz.com (False) and telling people not to buy or support them is not helping out anyone.

A few people have told me Northern-Ridaz does not make any money off of the site and that Sadclown spends his personal time maintaining the site. We appreciate his hard work and our mutual love for the Bay. We strongly feel that the northern-ridaz site should definitely give out music samples instead of hosting the WHOLE album. After I emailed sadclown, he made the choice to take down his site. I then thought it was because he wanted his site to start making money. He knows that by doing this, Northern-ridaz would increase its value. (I could be wrong) Of course rapbay makes money but most of it goes to the artist, labels, companies selling products, advertising, hosting fees, rent for storage, you name it .Trust me, after paying off everyone, theres not that as much money left over as you might think.

I love the rap fans because they are the ones that keep the industry running and more than that, they are family. I appreciate and thank any fan, artist or label that has bought a CD, DVD, T-shirt or whatever it may be on Rapbay.com. I also appreciate the business we receive from being linked from northern-ridaz. I am also appreciative when an artist, label or any other person chooses to bring to me a CD, DVD, or clothing to sell because that what I do best. And if you passed out a flyer that said RAPBAY on it then GREAT and all of you are family. This is my life and every rap fan that buys from RAPBAY or not will always mean a lot to me. I wish i could satisfy everyone but I think if Northen-ridaz does this, it will not only benefit rap fans but help keep the rap industry alive.

I have helped the rap industry since 1992, over 12 years. I worked for Tower Records for over 5 years as the rap buyer, I worked at Music People/ In a Minute Records for 5 years. I also have worked for Sony Music New York for 3 years. I worked for Urbanlife for over 3 years before being the co-owner and I've been co-owner of rapbay since day 1 for 2 years; not to mention numerous promotion companies and shows I've helped out on. Ive definitely done my part and have put my whole life into this game. I am still here and let me tell you, there aren't too many people left from when I first started in the rap game. There is a reason. I'm Honest, Trustworthy and I am always true to the game.

Think what you want, but I'm not in this for myself. You can ask anyone I work with. This is what I do, my life. After I received my first rap tapes( run dmc and LL cool J) back in 86 at 9 yrs old, I fell in love with rap. Since then, I have worked almost everyday to gain my spot in the rap industry.

In conclusion, I would like to see northern ridaz work more directly with Rapbay.com

Peace Out

check our site www.rapbay.com

Ryan

and from Kerry...Why can't we just all get along...LOL!

The industry isn't healthy right now, this is just one example as to why...

co-sign.. foos are trynna say it hurts sales, but I cannot see that.
Also, the responding email that was posted is hella on some damage control. The way he worded that email is the way he should have worded the email that was sent to SadClown. And then he accuses SadClown of takin the site down on some self interest shit like he trynna pump up its value so he can break himself some bread? That's not cool, opinions like that, especially amongst people in the same industry, should stay to themselves.

all I'm gonna say on this subject is:

If the artists/labels have a problem with their album being on Sad Clown's site, then I'm sure they'll let em know....I don't see how it's any of RapBay.com's concern

NorthernRidaz.com will give a local artist a good buzz if their shit is quality. I won't buy an album unless I know its good and since I'm not in the bay right now thats how i find the good shit. I've been burned way too many times by bullshit albums, northern ridaz is a good thing. If rappers put out bullshit albums with recycled tracks and shit the consumer has a right not to buy the same album in a different package
