at this point the Giants would be lucky to keep 6 or 7 of the 8 arbitration eligible players, don't even matter what's in the free agent market right now.

Did anyone listen to FP on knbr last night? He was talking about how the Giants have ruined other sports for him this year. He can't get excited over any other sports or get bummed out over his teams losing. Talked about how he's having withdrawals from the Giants and nothing is filling that void. I feel the same fucking way. I love my 49ers, but I honestly could give 2 shits how they do this year because of what the Giants did. I got a parking ticket last week, but I was like "shit...Giants won the world series!! I aint even mad!!". I can't wait for opening day!!!! GO GIANTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REPEAT!!!!!!!

Velez a Giant no more; Fontenot returning for a year

The Giants have signed reserve infielder Mike Fontenot to a one-year contract. Don't know the money. I'm sure it's not big money.

The Giants also non-tendered reliever Chris Ray, making him a free agent. They got him for Bengie Molina last July. They also non-tendered Eugenio Velez, who becomes a free agent as well. Velez was not one of the eight arbitration-eligible players, as far as I knew. Perhaps they needed his roster spot.

The other six arb guys were tendered contracts before tonight's 9 p.m. deadline and remain Giants: Jonathan Sanchez, Ramon Ramirez, Javier Lopez, Santiago Casilla, Cody Ross, Andres Torres.
