I assume this is directed at me.
Ok, besides Lakers fans, I may be the only person on this board who thinks Bynum is a better overall player than Oden. He has great hands, quick feet, and a good shot. Good free throw shooter, good from 10 feet or so, good jump shot, and his defense is pretty good. A good rebounder, too.
Oden is a very good one on one defender under the basket, but he's going to be stretched out, away from the basket, where he won't be able to help and play one on one basketball, which may hurt him. He's always seemed slow-footed to me, and quicker players are going to take serious advantage of that. He can't shoot free throws very well, and has minimal post skills. He's good right under the basket, where he can take one drop step and put it up, but anything more than 5 feet and he's not as accurate. But I also understand he's a rookie, and will develop, and will improve. How much? Who knows, but he's a year younger than Bynum, who came straight out of high school, and so I don't really know that that age difference matters.
I may be wrong...Bynum may turn into Sam Bowie, and Oden into Kareem Abdul-Jabaar, or they may both turn into busts/stars...but only time will tell.
