I think for a real mixtape scene to happen in the Bay, these artists gotta start releasing they shit on wax with the insturmentals and the acapellas and all that... and who from the Bay does that anymore?

So it's ok for dj's to take other peoples music without concent? They are praised as breaking new music (when often they are stealing exclusives from studio sessions and tour busses) or when a Green Lantern or a DJ Clue has an A-list artist like 50cent, Eminem or Snoop rappin over other peoples beats it's an "Exclusive" but when artist do it without a dj's blending it's stealing ummm right...wheres the since in that. By the way the New York mix cd's ( the ones that some of you say are done the "right way" HAVE NO MIXING it's just stright songs. Another thing maybe their saying a mix of other peoples beats...that does fit in the holy mixtape code.

Mixtapes are played the fuck out to me personally.....if you can drop a sick flow on a industry track...then why not do it on a original track?....and if artists ain't gonna show no love to the dj's trying to break them out...then fuck'em....let'em figure shit out themself....this mixtape formula seems to be the same bullshit over and over....take a industry instrumental and rap over it...in the beginning it was cool, but now every motherfucker is doing it....and to the same tracks sometimes!...hahahaha...i only paid for one mixtape..and that was the DD one....fuck paying for any others.....I'm through with mixtapes...what happen to the fucken creativity the bay had back in 94-95?

to everyone arguing about what a mixtape is, read the green lantern interview in scratch<?>/tablist<?> magazine (or some other dj magazine i'm tired right now). how he broke it down was, the days of blending shit is OVER in the mixtape scene for the most part. it's about the exclusives which sell records and get your name out there. and when was the last time you heard a mixed whoo kid mixtape? & he's like the mixtape king right now, right? lantern is a unique dj, with mixed exlusives. vlad is more of a blend dj. but big mike doesn't mix, nor kayslay for the most part, nor clue, so get a clue. they push units by having exclusives. if you got a name, your shit WILL sell. if you have no name & you try to sell your mixtape for more than like $3-5 ppl will be like who the fuck are you?

PS the young gunz just dropped a hot one with DJ GL.

PPS guess this would be a bad time to plug the mobaloti mixtape that we just wrapped up today & is out sometime next month? lol

18 songs, 2 original ones that ain't on the album. probably gonna be like 15 songs deep when we are done with it. it's hot, i'll put some shit on soundclick when i get a chance. and these ain't the same ass beats you hear everywhere else (if you got my 1st shit, then that's just a small prequel to this shit)

thats what im sayin.. the bay needs the best of the bay out there.. cuz pretty much EVERYTHING in the bay is exclusive to everyone else.. someone needs to drop and press a tight mixtape.. with some new shit from people like Turf Talk, E-40, Mac Dre, Frontline, Balance and so on.. i know if they could get all that tight shit people would feel it and open some eyes.. they just need to get the product pressed and out there.. the whole state of Cali seems to be in a slump.. peeps need to change this "everything has to happen on the east coast" shit.. and start makin some moves.

Chinese Mike,

I see what yer sayin, but I will NEVER stop blendin my tapes. I don't see how anyone can call themselves a DJ and not actually MIX the shit....thats just laziness....and yer right, 99% of the NY tapes are just song after song with a buncha yellin which I think is GAY. But hey, they get exclusives so who am I to knock em?

And STREETFIGHT, Hip-Hop was STARTED by DJ's dog....And it's always been that DJs break new records. If yer just a cat throwin together an unauthorized compilation, then u ARE bootleggin. That's how the game has and always will be.
