no country was a gangster movie. The ending was anti-climatic because the film is about tommy lee jones character not javier bardem or josh brolin. Its about that old ass boring sheriff.

Both movies were great. There Will Be Blood was a lot better though IMO. Great acting, really good dialog , amazing cinematography, and a great chemistry between the two opposing actors (Day-Lewis and Paul Dano.)

90% of moviegoers these days just want to go and watch CGI crapfests like 300 or Transformers. All visuals and no substance. I mean they are cool for what they are (well 300 sucked, Transformers was okay to an extent) but they lack anything worth thinking about once the movie has ended.

If you didn't find either of those movies entertaining you probably fall into the CGI crowd.
ive never seen 300 or even had a remote interest in doing so , i also saw half of transformers and i thought it sucked ass one of the worst for sure . i grew up on that shit and i was like am i watching transformers or some cheesy love movie . good to see im not alone

I can't read, as I Fucked Your Mom pointed out :(. Did you guys have Funny Games at your theater? If so, what was the reaction there? I laughed along with others during the first 5 mins, then left in another 10.

Yeah we had it. Nothing that I really noticed. Not much positive or negative. I didn't get to see the whole thing but the original 1997 Austrian film (by the same director/writter Michael Haneke) is fucking dope. I did like what I saw of the remake though.

Just curious as to what you didn't like?

Well, it started out as a family trip in a car, they're driving, normal start to a movie, and all of a sudden some loud ass heavy metal kicks in and they start showing the actor names and this shit is continuing forever and I'm just dying lol. Then there was some stupid ass acting and something about the fake leotardo dicaprio wanting some eggs. Then we left.

lol @ Leatardo. He is actually a pretty good actor, the real one, not the fake one. I haven't really seen the "fake one" in anything so can't speak on him.

In my opinion watching the opening credits +5-10 minutes of the movie and then bouncing is pretty stupid. I haven't even done that with awful movies like 300. I know what part you were up to because I saw the original and you should have watched more because it gets pretty fucking crazy. I can't really say if this one is good or not because I didn't see more then maybe 15 minutes added up but I liked what I saw. It's a really fucked up movie.

I still find it funny you liked Secret Window. I'm not going to let you live that one down for a few lol.

Please don't give me another infraction.

the music in "There Will Be Blood" is one of the things that makes it tight
Great music in that movie yes, but...

The Assassination of Jesse James... > There Will Be Blood

...music wise.

They were both two of my favorite movies of the year though. There Will Be Blood being one of my favorite movies in quite a few years.

Johnny Greenwood from Radiohead did the whole thing.

And the ending to No Country For Old Men was in a way a let down, but if you watch it again and pay attention to what Tommy Lee Jones says at the beginning of the movie it makes sense. It's supposed to be that these police men go thru their lives without ever really having to use their guns or see a triple homicide, but times change and people with it. And there comes a time when what you know doesn't fit anymore, and you need to adapt or get out.

And the original ending to There Will Be Blood was supposed to be Daniel beating Eli to death with a tumbler and then bowling his body into the pins, but they thought it was too graphic. I thought it was fine the way it was, but the other ending would've been a hundred times more badass.

There Will Be Blood isn't a remake. It's loosely based on a book called Oil! by Upton Sinclair that was written in the late 1920s if I remember right. Great book as well.

And yes, I loved the ending in the movie as well.
