I think the problem is the majority of people automatically don't like a movie when it doesn't follow the plot structure they are accustomed to.
If a movie doesn't start with the exposition, lead into the conflict, and then have a clearly defined resolution with the protagonist better off than he was in the beginning; people's brains explode.
IMO No Country was tight as fuck. The biggest reason people seemed to dislike the movie was that it didn't have the standard Hollywood blocker buster type resolution (ie Moss finally gets away from Chigurh and lives happily ever after with his wife and the money)
The only thing that would have made the movie tigher for me is if they had shown Chigurh smoke Moss's wife and then drive away without getting in the car accident.
I agree 90% lol.....
I think your right about the current movie climent and that if you dont follow the "formula" expo, action, resolution then your movies considered "weird" or weak. Thats why I think No country is such a great movie and why it got the accolades it did becase real movie lovers recognize that for a story to be great it doesnt always have to have a happy ending. In real life stories dont always end positivly for anyone in a drug deal gone bad.
The 10% I dont agree with you on (not that its a big deal) is the ending.
I enjoyed the part where he kills dudes wife. I dont think it was necassary to show him killing her. He killed enough people during the movie to know what was going to happen to her. Thats why they show him checking his feet when he left her house. You know she was killed and thats the impact of that scene.
As far as the car crash I loved it. It was a way for him to get a little payback for what he just did and it shows that he wasnt imune to fate either. If he hadnt went to kill her, or been distracted by the kids on the bikes.....or hell, stolen the car to get to her house in the first place he wouldnt have been in that intersection to get hit and have his army destroyed lol....
I even enjoyed the ending. Even tho it ends suddenly it ties back into the title of the movie. Tommy Lees character is talking about a dream with his dad in it and there both heading out on a dark path together but he sees himself as the older of the two and hes always behiind him. Its like hes going down that same path his dad layed down before him.
Anyway.....thats a long enough rant on the movie for me lol....I dont blame anyone for just skiping to the next post
Oh and I just rented there will be blood and will be watching it tonight.
Ill let yall know what I think:knockout:
