J sanchez was contract relief...... Melky only hit .305 with 20 sb 18 hr's and scored 102 runs on a sorry ass pitching team last year....... We dont need to resign torres now and cody ross can take his shit and get too....

Now we need a ss and beltran and we are on our way!

Beltran in left melky in cf and sheirholtz in rf = SOLID!

fixed.

our offense was potent as hell even though we didn't hit many homers.

Bruce Bochy: “Barry Zito is our fifth starter next year”

By trading Jonathan Sanchez to the Royals yesterday the Giants opened up a rotation spot and manager Bruce Bochy said that Barry Zito is the man for the job.

During a radio interview with KNBR today Bochy revealed: “I’m not gonna hide from it. Barry Zito is our fifth starter next year.”

Zito started just nine games this year because of injuries and ineffectiveness, and there was speculation throughout the season that the Giants might finally decide to eat his salary and release the veteran left-hander.

However, while Zito was a massive free agent bust and incredibly overpaid he’s also more often than not been a decent back-of-the-rotation starter and there’s no reason to part with that when the Giants are paying him either way. Zito had a 4.03 ERA over 192 innings in 2009 and a 4.15 ERA over 199 innings in 2010, and just about every team in baseball would be thrilled to get that out of their fifth starter.

The Giants aren’t going to try to re-sign Carlos Beltran

Jon Heyman reports that the Giants are no longer going to try to re-sign Carlos Beltran. Because when you add an .809 OPS outfielder like Melky Cabrera and take away a .910 OPS outfielder like Beltran, your severe offensive problems are all better.

Oh, I don’t know. I’m just being mean. I’m sure they have their reasons. Spending money on someone like Jose Reyes could be a reason. We don’t know. The point is, Beltran is now going someplace else. Probably Boston, if everyone who thinks they know a little bit about this sort of thing can be believed.

That makes two rent-a-player situations in Beltran’s career. With the 2004 Astros and the 2011 Giants. he hit well in both of them. Really darn well in 2004, but better than most people realized this past season too. Oh well. Some people are meant to be transitional figures, I suppose.

Told yall.. I knew Giants arent gonna go after Beltran.. it would make the line up a whole lot better, Sandoval, Posey, Franchez, Melky Cabrera, Beltran, and if Torres and Huff can have another 2010 season again..

I definitely wouldn't invest anything into Torres because what he did last year he's done his entire career and 2010 was 1 time thing. Huff is another story because he's had so many off and on years. Hopefully he's taking it serious and getting in shape. I guess the Giants don't plan on making any more moves and are going to just try and lock up Cainer and Timmy. Fucking gay ass ownership group. I can't imagine how much money they made last year and they aint going to do shit to improve the offense.

If Posey and Freddy get back to form and Pablo keeps his weight down we should be ok. Plus belt could come into his own and hopefully Huff gets in shape. I'm not too worried to be honest.

We know our pitching automatically makes us a contender. I'm more worried about locking down Timmy and Cainer.

the contracts we hand out are retarded huff making 11 mill a season was not worth it
I AGREE. but correct me if i am wrong the dodgers were making a big push for huff and those were the numbers the dodgers were talking about he gave SF the chance to match to stay. huff will make it worth while this year he is a every other year kind of guy look at his stats never back to back good years so i will just say he is due this year and if not we have pill and belt to occupy.

* The Giants offered Bloomquist a two-year deal worth more than $3.8MM before he re-signed in Arizona, according to Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic (on Twitter). San Francisco’s offer was worth $4.6MM over two years, according to Yahoo's Tim Brown. The D’Backs remain interested in Aaron Hill.
* The Giants are looking for a shortstop as a fallback for Brandon Crawford, according to Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News (on Twitter). Baggarly notes that some Giants coaches are big fans of free agent Clint Barmes.

C - Buster Posey
1b - Aubrey Huff/Brandon Belt/Brett Pill
2b - Freddy Sanchez
SS - Brandon Crawford
3b - Pablo Sandoval
RF - Nate Schierholtz
CF - Melky Cabrera/Andres Torres
RF - Cody Ross/Melky Cabrera/Brandon Belt

That will be the lineup on opening day. Book it. Don't expect Fielder or Pujols cause it aint happening. And honestly that lineup aint that bad if all our guys are healthy and play up to their standards with our pitching.
