Posey >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Molina & Whiteside combined it's not even funny. And it's his first full season (not even full since he started May 29th). And he's only 23.

Mad Bum is turning 21.
Pablo is turning 24.
Cain turning 26.
Lincecum is 26.

Panda needs to get his shit together again.

Giants still have a good young core.

Giants close to trade for Scott Podsednik?

According to my sources, the San Francisco Giants are close to a deal that would fetch Royals' outfielder Scott Podsednik for a couple of minor league players.

The Giants had already worked out the details for sending two prospects to Kansas City for David DeJesus before he was injured and would presumably package them again for Podsednik.

Podesdnik, 34, is batting .308/.352/.400 with 5 HR and 43 RBI and has a current 13-game hitting streak. During the streak he is 21-for-56 (.375) with a .607 slugging percentage.

More importantly, Podsednik has 30 stolen bases, more than anyone on the Giants' current roster. The speedy outfielder would make an immediate impact to a Giants' lineup that has grounded into a league-leading 108 double plays this season. (Read more about why I think the Giants need to trade for speed here.)

The Giants have been connected to Podsednik before, according to MLB Trade Rumors. The team was interested in Podsednik back in December, before they ended up settling on Mark DeRosa.

Podesdnik, who stole 70 bases for the Milwaukee Brewers back in 2004, was teammates with Juan Uribe and Aaron Rowand in 2005 when the three of them won a World Series together with the Chicago White Sox. He finished second in NL Rookie-of-the-Year voting in 2003 behind Dontrelle Willis, another recent pick up by the Gigantes.

--------------------------------- that's what we need a base stealing threat career OBP of 350 or so i believe?? this wouldnt be a bad pick up as long as we're not giving up a bunch of A+ prospects

giants are dope as fuck right now, a guy like podsednik can only help the team, i dont think trading for prince fielder, although id love to have his left handed power bat in our park, is right for the team. lets drop any, and i mean any, fringe major-league players (ryan rohlinger, etc.) or minor league prospects for a guy like podsednik and a reliever (separate trade, same trade, doesnt matter). Podsednik isnt the most exciting player to get, but he has experience, has a ring, and is playing really well right now. and he can rotate into the outfield, especially since (i think) he'll need an adjustment coming back into the NL, and he's kinda injury prone.

disclaimer: obviously we dont trade any starting pitchers. and a few relievers are exempt from trade possibilities also.

and he has 30 steals. he's been caught 12 times, but so what. a little danger makes for interesting baseball. i also think podsednik is a better buy-high player than say, corey hart. we'd give up too much to get corey hart, and we don't know if he'd stay. Podsednik is having a little resurgence, and the Royals make dumb trades, so the Giants should do it.
