Mark DeRosa told Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News that "it’s just a matter of when" before he undergoes surgery on his left wrist.
The good news is that he might not need it right away. DeRosa was told by Dr. Thomas Graham that he hadn’t reached the point where playing could risk a full tendon rupture. "He said it comes down to pain tolerance and effective play," said DeRosa. He was recently given a second cortisone injection and wants to get in a minor league game soon. He hopes to be activated from the disabled list as soon as June 4.

Jeremy Affeldt (hamstring) threw a light bullpen session on Friday.
"Jeremy's coming around," said Giants manager Bruce Bochy. "He feels much better. Hard to say what day [he'll return]. It could be [Saturday] -- that's how much he's improved -- or it could be a couple more days." Affeldt hasn't pitched since Sunday due to a strained left hamstring.

so hopefully this helps the offense:
Andrew Baggarly reported that the Giants are likely going to recall top prospect Buster Posey before Saturday's game.
The report is unconfirmed, but this seems to be more than just reading the tea leaves. According to Baggarly, Posey has been playing first base in Triple-A and general manager Brian Sabean personally scouted Posey last week to see if he was ready. Baggarly speculates that if recalled, Posey would see the majority of his playing time at first base rather than behind the plate, though he could see an occasional start there as well. If true, this story means the first of the truly top class prospects will be coming to the majors, with players like Stephen Strasburg and Mike Stanton soon to follow. Posey is hitting .349/.442/.552 with six home runs and 32 RBI so far this season at Triple-A Fresno.

hours later vvvvvvv

Giants recalled C Buster Posey from Triple-A Fresno.
Posey is on his way to San Francisco and will start at first base on Saturday according to Andrew Baggarly. The Giants waited way too long to make this move, but adding a bat of Posey's caliber will be a huge boon to their sluggish offense.

also:

Mark DeRosa received a second cortisone injection in his injured wrist, which should allow him to go out on a minor league rehab assignment soon.
He could begin his rehab in the minors as soon as early next week. DeRosa's versatility virtually ensures that the Giants will have a spot open for him when he's ready to rejoin the team, but for now, they're shuffling players around as best they can to fill the spots vacated by DeRosa and Edgar Renteria.

Giants signed DH Pat Burrell to a minor league contract.
Burrell will head straight to Triple-A Fresno to begin his career with the Giants. It's not known if the club has a planned mapped out for the 33-year-old veteran, or whether they'll just react based on how he plays in the minor leagues. Burrell was batting .202/.292/.333 in 84 at-bats for the Rays this year before they cut him loose on May 19.

You dont understand....

He sits Schierholtz who was a hot hitter at the time, sends down Matt Downs who is a better hitter and was getting it done more than the call up Ryan Rohlinger.
based on what i have seen out of Schierholtz i would have to say he fits the bill of a 4th outfielder...he is getting older and cant seem to nail down a starting position......he has some some flashes at times but nothing overwhelming......i do think that with the Giants lack of outfielders he should be starting in place of Torres, who is just a flash in the pan.......keeping Schierholtz in there would bring stability to the team....jmo
