unless this is some new ruling i swear I just heard about some case no older than like 1-2 weeks claiming that in Cali some judge ruled that p2p software itself is not illegal or something like that, and kazaa would fall under p2p software (peer 2 peer, aka person 2 person). I personally think trying to crack down on music swapping is like trying to cover up a hole on a garden hose with 1000 other holes, it dont stop. Theres so many ways to get music, doesnt even have to be p2p software: AOL, IRC, Newsgroups etc. Maybe 5 years down the road if the industry and software companies like microsoft get together, something can happen, but until then its on.

A-Wax I got luv for you dogg, I got Savage Timez and 65 G'z over here in the UK, in fact I got like wall to wall CD's, of which about 500-600 from the Bay. But if I couldn't check a couple of things on download then forget that kind of support for Bay acts. Independent game ain't gonna go worldwide without a bit of internet exposure.
And not on you A-Wax, but on some acts, if you going to put out a sorry CD with a couple of slumps at best, why the f*** should I go put a bunch of cash on importing that shit. I buy 95% of my shit and download the rest, anyone in the business trippin off the 5% I download? please....
There ain't too much Northern Cali rap out there on Kazaa, anyone checking that shit is probably going to be buying and supporting a whole bunch of other stuff too, to me thats all good.
What kills me is that some cats trip off the public downloading... but then they selling their same track to ten different people to put on ten different comps and we go pay our cash on the same recycled track a grip of times.........

1st, no way they can do this, first in for most, it's near impossiable finding everybody that downloads off kazaa and whatever other program people use... with the fake emails and ect. and I doubt they have the time to track everyones IP address

If I never downloaded mp3's, I wouldn't have the music knowledge I do right now. Before internet music was big, I would be buying maybe one or two cd's a month. Now that I download massive mp3's, and get to hear stuff that I never knew existed, I'm buying 4-5 CD's PER MONTH.

lol i love this attitude that somehow downloading movies/programs/porn/whatever is perfectly fine, but downloading music is the spawn of satan. ITS ALL STEALING!!! i wont pretend to know the in's and out's of the music biz, but i know that most musicians make money touring and selling merch, not selling records. oh shit, i sound like tadou 
wax its all good mayne. id say the majority dont buy yall cds after downloading, and that aint right. for me though, and this on my wife's life. i buy it if its tight, or will buy it in the future if its tight. alot of cds back in the day and even some latly ill buy then sell back to the wherehouse for like 6 bucks then take that and put it toward the next cd. id say most cds i have, and i have almost 2,000 or more. 98 percent are on cd-r's and 45-50 percent were bought. id like the OG's some day but fuck with the money i got i gotta download buy then sell back to buy more.

thats not even the basis for my discussion tho. i love Tactout's response. because its funny he responded that way because thats exactly what happend with his very cd with me. i downloaded II Sicc not even knowin anything. it was Judgement Day. i burned it and started ta bump it. at first i wasn't feelin the beats much, but after listenin thru a few times i was like damn this shit is heat. i threw a party and was bumpin it and hella people were askin who they were and i told em n shit. then i got on the boards and saw tactout postin. i was supposed to order 10 cds from him but honestly i never got the money. but i didnt' have to cuz peeps went to the local record store askin for orders of II Sicc. before i knew it hella people were bumpin II Sicc and folx were like 'zo i got that II Sicc the other day shits heated!'. man, more than anyone on this board im here to see the artists prosper, especially here in southern cali. cuz honestly there is VERY LITTLE exposure down here in so cali where am at, everyones bumpin nelly and 50cent. thats not what i like to see. i've been writin daily emails to the local radio station to put down their 50cent cd and pick up the new lynch single, or a gangsta reese track, im doin what i can to bring real music down here! i've even mention a-wax in my emails a few times. to see an artist that i have discovered online and come to like, and to have him lash out at us like this, its ridiculous.

another example i wanna throw out is KVE's mixtape that i was feelin. i downloaded it about a month ago. and im gonna be totally honest on this. i thought that shit was damn heated, hella artists on there that i was feelin that i didn't know. but i wont buy it. because i dont buy mixtapes, i dont like them. so yea, theres a download and im not gonna buy it. but. if i see kve product at the store and its dudes like hydros cd, imma be like damn he came tight on the mixtape, i'll probably swoop it. depending on my money situation i might come home and dl a few tracks, to check it out, but if i got the skrill i buy. KVE has done good on this manner and i like they're attitude, and rob and ms know that if they ever need anyone to promo or support kve i'll be there. im talkin worldwide i wanna see this shit pop!
but jesus christ, stop lashin at your fans for dl'ing music, we're not rich, i buy a good 3 or 4 cds a month, mostly online thru paypal, just sent an order to tactout. shits like that. buy when i can, you put out a dope product that im feelin, you WILL get support, put out shit product, sorry man, no easy money for yall, go jack some cat flossin on rims, cuz you aint jackin my hard earned cash homie, thats on KAZAA CUHZ!

it has been said a million times but ill say it again......if it wasnt for downloads, some of u underground artists would not even be heard of...its not the like radio plays ur shit or even advertises it, its not like we see u on mtv or in rolling stone or the source.....word of mouth might make us hear of you but downloading will let us hear ur music and if it is good ...people will buy
