I feel you on that, but in terms of fast food, In & Out has been bucking the trend. They are owned by one family, not franchised, they don't put additives in the meat, they use real potatoes for their fries, and you can actually see them make your food. And if you let one of their burgers chill for a while before you eat it, it still tastes good. You should read "Fast Food Nation" if you haven't already, (I would be surprised if you haven't), it gives a positive review of In & Out.
