THE ONLY REASON HE IS SITTING OUT IS BECAUSE HE KNOWS HE IS GONNA GET THE MONEY NEXT YEAR FROM THE COWBOYS, NO ONE WILL DRAFT HIM BUT YOU WILL BE SURPRISED WHEN THE COWBOYS SPEND A FIRST ROUND PICK ON HIM AND GIVE HIM THE MONEY HE WANTS, I KNOW THEY DID SOME BULLSHIT SO THIS WOULD HAPPEN, FUCK THE COWBOYS

He's sitting out because he thinks he's going to be a top 5 pick next year.......

Im starting to think that Crabtree is retarded or something. He's not a top 5 in 2009 but he thinks he draft stock is going to rise without playing football for a year? How can you be anything other then retarded to think that way.

Sitting out for 10 million dollars is going to cost him 30-40 and 100 million in the long run if he's really as good as he thinks he is.

Plus, say if he gets picked in the 2nd or 3rd round, then he gets a 6 year contract. If he wouldve signed this year, he wouldve been a free agent in 2013 at age 26. But if he does get picked next year you wont be a free agent until 2015 at age 28.

Those 2 years is going to cost him more then 10 million.

by John Crumpacker, Chronicle Staff Writer , The San Francisco Chronicle

He hasn't done a thing in the NFL, but Michael Crabtree already is in select company.

By missing the first game of his rookie season, the un- signed receiver joins quarterback JaMarcus Russell Raiders, 2007, tackle Bryant McKinnie Vikings, 2002 and defensive tackle Ryan Sims Chiefs, 2002 as drafted rookies to miss at least the opening game of the season.

As Profootballtalk.com pointed out, McKinnie and Sims missed multiple games of their rookie seasons before signing.

Crabtree, drafted 10th by San Francisco, shows no inclination toward signing a reported five-year, $20 million contract with $16 million guaranteed the club reportedly has offered.

The 49ers hold his rights until the day of the 2010 draft. That means if he intends to re-enter the draft, he cannot work out for individual teams beforehand, participate in the scouting combine or even talk to teams interested in his services.

If he does not sign a contract with the 49ers by Nov. 17, Crabtree won't be able to play in 2009.

The NFL Network's Deion Sanders , who - in his playing days - was represented by the same agent as Crabtree, Eugene Parker , said two teams contacted the 49ers about trading for the wide receiver. The timing of Sanders' claim was ridiculous because the trading deadline for the rights to rookies already had passed.

The 49ers responded by saying no conversations with other teams occurred. A 49ers spokesman said the club had no comment about whether it might pursue tampering charges against the two teams that Sanders, technically an employee of the NFL, said had expressed an interest in Crabtree. That is, if the teams actually did contact Crabtree.

Remember all the Niners fans saying everyone was stupid for thinking Crabtree would ACTUALLY sit out the entire season, and there was NO WAY he would sit out... lol, yeaaah...
The only thing I was saying is that this kid would be incredibly stupid to sit out the entire year. I honestly never thought someone, with the talent level he has, would be that dumb. I obviously stand corrected because if the reports are in fact true, Crabtree really is that dumb, and so is his agent for allowing him to do so. But we also know that there are idiots on both sides of the fence who have no business speaking on football matters.

The only thing at this point that would be more ridiculous than him holding out, (and outside of our GM taking a flyer amid the rumors about this dude) would be for ANY team to waste a pick on this dude come draft day next year.

Nobody thought Crabtree was this stupid. I know people who hate the Niners have been talking shit saying he would hold out the season, but we all know that's just because they hate the Niners. Nobody really thought the guy would be this dumb.

I held off on talking shit about this guy until he missed a game that counted, which he just did. I still think he will sign, but he's fuckin useless to us this year so at this point I don't give a fuck if he signs or not.
