Hmmm....this is interesting. Could this create a rift in the front office?

1. According to Profootballtalk.com, Michael Crabtree is "getting nervous" at the 49ers' stance in contract talks not changing following the team's Week 1 upset of the Cardinals.
"There's now a sense that he might be getting ready to take the offer that the 49ers have left on the table," editor Mike Florio writes. This comes after a late-week ESPN report that all signs pointed to Crabtree holding out and reentering the NFL Draft in 2010. He's already lost one potential game check.

2. Coach Mike Singletary revealed Monday that the 49ers have considered modifying their contract offer to unsigned rookie Michael Crabtree.
Thus costing the franchise some leverage. A Monday report had Crabtree "getting nervous" about the 49ers' stance, but Singletary's revelation works in Crabtree and agent Eugene Parker's favor. GM Scot McCloughan won't like it.

How the hell does that work in Crabtree's favor? He's losing money as we speak.

^^^im not saying ur wrong, but im missing where it says "reducing". Obviously it'll be reduced, in a way, cuz he missed game 1, but it sounds like they're gonna change something to Crabtree's liking, like gimpypimp said.

Who might be willing to cave in? The Niners are talking about reducing the contract.

and this whole crabtree deal is bullshit. all in all, the niners had to pick him. he was still up there later then expected. maybe everybody else seen he was a diva besides the niners but i would have done the same thing. we didnt know it would turn into this and at the time, was a steal

and fuck the raiders. jus cuz they got a idiot of a owner, messed it up for us. jus cuz they overpay a reciever who cant catch, now crabtree wants more jus cuz from college, he knows hes better then bum ass dhb. jus cuz hes fast. lol raiders suck

49ers consider different offer

Hmmm....this is interesting. Could this create a rift in the front office?

2. Coach Mike Singletary revealed Monday that the 49ers have considered modifying their contract offer to unsigned rookie Michael Crabtree.
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - Coach Mike Singletary says the San Francisco 49ers have discussed changing their offer to top draft pick Michael Crabtree.

Whether the franchise has reached out to the former Texas Tech star formally, Singletary wasn't sure. He has asked the brass to keep him completely out of it so he can focus on the 53 players he has on the active roster. The 49ers beat the reigning NFC champion Arizona Cardinals 20-16 on Sunday.

Crabtree, the 10th overall pick in April's draft who turned 22 on Monday, hasn't accepted the 49ers' offer for approximately five years and $20 million with a reported $16 million guaranteed — instead seeking money comparable to the higher picks.
There really isn`t any solid way to determine what they mean by "modify" at this point. No one from the 49ers has said the word "increase", so it very well could mean "decrease". Personally I`m pulling for the decrease, and that`s been my stance on this negotiation, to give him "x" date to sign the current offer by, or have it decrease up until the nov.17 cut off date for him to play this year.

If, by chance, this does in fact mean an increase in the offer, I hope it does create a rift with the GM that ultimately leads to his dismissal. This guy has a proven track record to be incompetent, especially at the draft. If we could lose both Crabtree and the GM, I`d be thrilled!!

It's not in that article. I'm too lazy to dig up the link from 49erswebzone.com, but the Niners are said to have issued a warning letter to Crabtree stating that his offer will be reduced if he doesn't sign soon. That was before Singletary confirmed that they are considering modifying the offer this morning at his press conference. In fact, that was the whole reason the contract "modifying" was brought up at the press conference in the first place. It's a threat to Crabtree.

Take the reduced (hopefully) offer, Crabtree. Put this shit behind you while you still can. If he were to bust his ass and be a positive force all will be forgotten. But you need the NFL, the NFL doesn't need you.

lmao @ the raiders having anything to do with this. michael crapshoot is a diva and would've complained if ANY wr was picked before him by ANY team and would be doing the same bullshit if say maclin was picked at #9 by Green Bay and he was picked at #10.

The thing is, nobody except Al Davis would have chosen another receiver before Michael Crabtree.

it'd make for some good football if crapshoot goes to someone in the nfc west.....doubt that'll happen tho, it'll probably be the cowboys
