Fuck man....the A's shootin' themselves in the foot right now...So far no good...still a lot of baseball left to play though.

Edit: Harden's not makin' it any easier on himself either.

Editx2: WOW 7-0 2nd inning...how demoralzing... :ermm:

I know it's only the second inning, but it looks like we have this game in the bag. Hopefully Lackey can hold it down until the 7th.

I will now wait for ESPN to jump all over the Angels nuts and claim that they will win the AL West, shifiting over from their last claims over night. Even though this is probably the most important game in baseball today (other than CWS vs NY), our teams will still get a maximum of a minute of attention.

YEah there's still plenty of baseball to be played. But you have lock on this game so far. A 7 to nothing hole is hard to get out of let alone come back. But we'll see...

LOL It was only a matter of time before all the Angels fans started pokin' their heads around here...

And yeah you're probably right about the ESPN dudes.

Well I guess if the A's don't pull this one out tonight, a nice consolation will be that the Yankees have lost as well...So at least we keep pace for the Wild Card lead.

I came to a realization that it's not a hot streak about 2 weeks ago. Yet, they wont play .800 baseball until October, that is far fetched.

Game 1 Prediction
Angels 7 - A's 2
Looks like I was off by two runs. Those two came in the 8th.
Oh well....

Game 2
Anaheim 3 - Oakland 1

Santana's either really good or really bad.

The majority of this series is how well the A's can handle pressure, and for the last several years they haven't been able to.

If we take this game tommorow, then we will sweep. We are at least favored to sweep if we take game 2.

Game 3 against their what, #5 pitcher? While we have Byrd on the mound. Let's see the A's try to money ball Byrd. All he does is throw strikes. Fast balls and change ups.

Did you watch the game?

In the first, Ellis blew an easy double play ball. If he makes that double play, the score is 1-0 Angels going into the second.

In the second, if Kendall would have blocked the ball Finley would have been out, but instead he got to first. Then Harden gave up a single and a fly ball out. That would have been 2 outs with one man on. (Kennedy I think.) Harden bobbles the ball when he has a play at the plate on the squeeze play. That should have been an out and he would have got out of the inning with the score still 1-0 Angels. Erstad followed up with a chopper that should have resulted in at least one out if not two with a double play. After all this, Vlad hits the grand slam. That's about 5 outs they should have had before Vlad even came to the plate, so I wouldn't blame Harden's pitching...

Harden wasn't having his best game (they were hitting him) but the defense blew it. If they played good D it's 1-0 Angels going into the 8th and Rincon doesn't come in, it's Calero or Duke instead. The Angels don't put in Peralta or whoever and it's a whole new ballgame.

Lackey gets props for pitching a good game though.

The A's have Joe Blanton going against the Angels on Thursday. He's only started one game against the Angels, he threw a complete game and gave up 1 run.

They were talking to some of the A's and Angels players on the radio earlier, it doesn't seem like either side feels much pressure. They'd all like to get ahead but they also think it's too early to get too wrapped up in one series.

Zito has to beat Santana tomorrow. Even with Zito's rough start a lot of his numbers are as good as they were his Cy Young year... And in the last 3 months he's only given up about 40 runs in about 130 innings (2.50-2.75 ERA.)

One time the A's knocked Byrd out of the game in the 4th... The next time I think they scored 3 or 4 runs in 6 innings. Blanton pitched a hell of a game against the Angels earlier this year but he's still questionable to me... I'll say the A's win that one but really it could go either way.

Yeah, the defense made a few mistakes, but that's what Anaheim does to a team. Especially one as inexperienced as Oakland is. And even if Harden had fielded that ball completely there's no way in hell he would've got the out at the plate.

@G-Dubb

How was the Angel fan base at the stadium in Oakland?

Just wondering cuz there are always a good handful of A's fans when Oakland plays in Anaheim. I actually have respect for the A's fans in Anaheim (despite what mlb.com's forums say).
