Part of the "problem" with Tech is his fanbase is very Caucasian, and its obvious. We all know that white people drive the hip-hop industry...white kids love rap. However, its overly obvious with Tech. So much so, on his latest album, he made a song called B.I.T.C.H. (Breaking In To Colored Houses). It talks about who he isn't accepted by his own people and how he has to work uphill to get black folks to bump his shit. Not that he needs to, he makes a shit ton of money and his shows are probably 95% white kids.

SO when people know that your target audience is white people, i think the stigma is black people tend to turn their noses up. Even though Lil Wayne and Too Short has probably just as large white fanbase. But i guess Tech N9ne doesn't talk about enough "nigga shit" to really have black folks on his side (2pac often touched on the same subjects as Tech did: depression, emotions, and striving to get by). It is what it is.

Tech is just corny in a way often only attained by white rappers(ie juggalos). That opera/gothic shit is just corny regardless of how sincere the content & man is.
OK, like what? Can you be more specific? None of his content lines up with what ICP does. None. He doesnt do clown/horrocore, and he doesn't do themes pertaining to the being a bible thumper (which is exactly what ICP does).

I dont know what gothic stuff you refer to either. Maybe we have a different definition of what that means? Who knows.

I think people see him being "outside the box" in terms of how hip-hop is supposed to be done, so it throws people for a loop. I dont know. He isnt E-40, he isnt Lil Wayne, and he isnt Wacka Flacka. And he isnt trying to be.

And quite honestly, with the musical taste you have 0R0, im a little surprised you see Tech as "corny". Not knocking you at all, but some of the hip-hop stuff you are into would fall in my category of "corny", so its a bit perplexing. All good though.

aesthetics are a part of the package

you guys can go ahead & hypothesis why another group doesn't like what you do, i'll just tell you why i dont like it.

music aint meant to be liked by every single person in the world

its okay that people dont like something that you like

the most annoying shit in the world when someone feels the need to question another mans tastes in music or mental ability when he or she dosent like the same thing

as long as you fuck with it thats all that should matter, fuck the whole musical door-to-door jehovahs witness shit
needs to be on the next page apparently

OK, have you seen the way 100s dresses? Or Riff Raff? Or Lil B? or Odd Future? How about ANTWON? They all dress like goofball idiots...so a little face paint isnt OK, but dressing like Bill Cosby is? I understand equating face paint with ICP, becuase they made it a thing. However, Kiss did it first. Doesnt seem like anyone compares Kiss to ICP, let alone Tech. Its all about art and how you express it. Lady Gaga does this. Several artists have worn paint on album covers. Its nothing new. Tech has even explained that the face painting is more attuned to African tribal culture than anything else. But again, people only look at the surface and not the actual content.

We are having a discussion about preference. Why clam up about it? This makes you come off as defensive. In the grand scheme of things, i couldn't care less that you dont like Tech. Its just interesting to know WHY for discussion sake. If someone asks me why i dont like an artist, ill tell them why and ill explain myself. Ive done it on more than one occasion in the other music forums.
