Whos YOUR team and WHY?

I noticed more than a few posters like teams(pro and/or college) outside their cities/states. How and why did you become a fan of your team?This question doesnt JUST apply for those who have teams ouside your hometowns.

Sonics-Seattles Orginal Team, cmon now!

Huskies-My stepdad went to UW and i was raised watching them(football).

Seminoles-I saw Charlie Ward in 93 and he got me hooked,been a Nole ever since(football)

Seahawks-What can i say?I still remember Kenny Easley!

Mavericks-I started diggin this team when Nash/Dirk were turnin this club around, plus they had my favorite player at thetime...Michael Finley.

Mariners-Griffey,Buhner,Randy and Edgar...the good ole Kingdome days!

Bears-I spent my summers in Minnesota and my good friend was a diehard Bears fan

Twins-Again, summer in Minny.Ive been to the Metrodome more times than ive been to the Kingdome and Safeco combined!

San Francisco 49ers - Born and raised in The City, so for obvious reasons, this is and always will be my #1 team in the NFL, I was born in time to see the Niners win 4 Superbowls, which is a dream for any football fan, being that a lot of folks go their whole lifetime without seeing their team win one. And also, I'm a 3rd generation Niner fan as well, my pops was a fan, and so is my grandpop.

San Francisco Giants - Same reasons, I'm a City Boy...and remember going out to Candlestick and watching Will Clark and Kevin Mitchell play.

Golden State Warriors - Its the closest NBA team to my City, so I've always been a fan...plus the fact that they used to be the San Francisco Warriors...


LA Lakers - I've always liked the Lakers since I was a kid, and a lot of my family is down there, so I just grew partial to them...still like 'em too...but its Warriors first !

Raiders because all of my uncles liked them I guess. I just have always liked them. Also because all the clothes that people gave me when I was younger had the Raiders on them. Or at least said Oakland and had the colors. lol some generic shit.

Tigers because when I was 4 years old my mom bought me a Cecil Fielder toy guy or some shit like that, and I just liked them because it was the only team I knew.

Cavs because of Andre Miller I guess. I've never been a huge fan of a basketball team though, I just like certain players and no teams really. It's hard to like a team that completely changes every 3-4 years.

I recently started liking the warriors after going to a couple of games, and then I did a paper on the NBA...and their PR Director and President of the Warriors helped me out a lot. I have a lot of respect for that organization.

Raiders. they were the good LA team (I was born in southern cali and the rams were a joke)....then I moved to Oakland and was like "why do so many people have raiders shit on......that says oakland?!?!?!!?" then my team realized I was no longer down south and moved up to be closer to me :classic: (yeah I know they started in oakland.....lol)

the showtime lakers! Magic johnson was/is/and always will be my favorite basketball player and IMO the best player to play in the NBA (I never really liked jordan....I know, I'm the only one) oh yeah, and the other LA team (clippers) was also a joke. although I hated shaq and was pissed off when they signed him and kept hoping for them to lose.......so they won 3 titles :dead:

which made me start liking the warriors....and around that time they still had mullen and tim hardaway.....but rooting for the warriors is like rooting for a handicapped kid running a race against thouroughbreds.....you know they're gonna lose, but you still wanna give them that "you can do it" thumbs up

Oakland A's - now I could probably be called bandwagon fan, I only like them because they're from oakland.....and the elephant.....I really hate baseball, the shit is boring as fuck to watch and slightly less in person....I also rooted for the dodgers when I was in LA and they had orel hershiser playing.....I don't know why I remember that, lol......oh yeah, and being an LA team, the other team sucked

I started getting into the bengals for the same reasons as the warriors....they were never gonna win, but they had some tight players corey dillon (at the time) & chad johnson....I thought kitna was alright too, but I'm glad they got carson palmer playing now....

but the raiders are my team.....I'd choose to go to a raiders game over any other sporting event aside from the superbowl

Blazers - Originally from Portland and been a fan since I met Clyde Drexler when I was 5.

Raiders - I don't know, they just always been my team since I was little cause I liked their colors.

Football: Seattle Seahawks, I'm from there, and grew up watching and rooting for them. Plus I think they're always an exciting team to watch. As long as you can get excited watching them fuck up.

Baseball: Mariners, only cause I'm from Seattle. Really can't stand baseball though.

Basketball: Sonics, grew up watching them and always have and will love GP. Now I love Ray Allen.

Hockey: Any team from Canada. Grew up playing hockey in Canada and fell in love with the country. Plus I think it's their sport and they should have all the good teams, cause they actually take pride in that shit. Unlike american teams who's fans just take it as a chance to party if their team goes all the way.

College Sports: Washington State University. Love the cougs. Used to be a Husky fan, but my bro and sis went their and they converted me. For college hockey, I cheer for the Air Force only cause hopefully I'll be playing for them in 2 years.:knockout:

Kings - What got me as a fan was C-Webb, Peja, Bibby, Divac and most importantly DOUG CHRISTIE, what more can I say? I am also a big fan of the NBA in general, theres not a team in the league with no reason to watch.
