A lot of producers make tight beats, but have a distinctive sound. If I hear your beat, and know off top it's your beat... you have a sound. If I hear your beat and don't know it's yours, your a good producer. Anyone can make a tight beat( Triton, Motif, Phantom, MPC, Reasons, Fruity Loops, etc.), but the question is who can make a tight album. If your whole catalog is Mob beats, Dark music, happy go-lucky club, with no variation... you're going to stay underground and sell beats per track. If you can cater to any artist... then you're a beast. The producer that has the most variations of music...meaning a South nigga, East Coast nigga, Mid-West niggah, West coast nigga can all get a beat and not know they all came from the same producer... is hot.

Consistency is the key, if it's hot , it's hot.

Don't matter who made it, what signature sounds were used , If a person can consistently make hot tracks , then fools will keep fuckin with em.
