Who's seen this Tower $.99 hip-hop CD sale (lotsa Bay rap)?

yeah they be doin that shit on the smallest of packages.. I swooped a few cds from secondspin the other month.. musta come to $35.. they charged me £7.50 import fees on somethin that only had the value of £20
i wouldnt mind about this non-exclusive fixed tax, if it was quite low, say 5%.. it would work out for them.. cause the regular 'random' tax they had before would cost you 70% of your item's value, and it would happen after every 20 or so packages (some years a bit more infrequent).. Plus, they'd only do it if it was over £18. i KNOW that the weight of the package didn't determine the tax either cause that muthafucka was w/o the cases..

I thought thats why we PAY for shipping/postage, for all the services that surround getting your chit from A to B.. And i thought customs only put import duty on expensive shit for insurance purposes/or if your box looks suspect.
It makes me mad that they wont just add the tax to the shipping fee at the post office, they wont cause that would discourage people from using their service, so they'd rather disguise this fee somewhere, where the average person has no means to find about it.. its almost like hustling your clientel. :angry:

Well, we'll see what happens at the door step. I'm praying for a friendly parcel force delivery driver to just hand me my shit and step...

^^ The stores in the US cant add the fee, they don't know what a motherfucka be charging over here, it's all on the fools over here in Parcelforce, they add that tax then add twice as much as some bullshit admin and clearance fee.
At least TNT call you up before they deliver and let you pay the tax only over the phone with a card, and don't try to make mo money off it. Damn Parcelforce bail up at your address demanding all types of things, CASH only. That's some hustle.
Real solid dude from Parcelforce I chopped it up with last week said as of this year the government is even charging tax on items marked 'Gift' so you can't swoop CD's on Ebay and get homie to mark it 'Gift'. He was embarassed.
The trick I'm on right now is find those music sites who pool lots of stores for stock, that way you order one lot of CD's and pay one low shipping fee, then they send them all separately, one CD per package. Customs don't touch that.

And oh yeah... I just got on this shit too, 100 CD's in the cart too... damn, I had most of them but y'all need a second copy of some shit. Was a trip to see Heated Speeches up on there, I went for 2 copies at that price.
But... I know how this goes, stores all pool the same warehouse stock and you can tell whats really in stock and what isn't by seeing availability of the same CD's on other sites. My guess is 99% of 'out of print low stock' prolly won't be sent.
But if I can get one or two for a couple of $ that's a nice result. If they really do ship me $100 CD's I'ma have to pay off the Parcelforce guy or whack him LOL and then like you Sippy I'ma have to work harder to pay it.

or have em already, you can always sell em back to Amoeba , Rasputin's or Streetlight (fuck Virgin, Whorehouse n FYE) for more, so it's worth it.
