Your argument is that parents are ALWAYS 100% to blame for 'lazy kids who play video-games all day. Am I right? If I'm misinterpreting your argument then forgive me, and please correct me.
Yes, yo are wrong. You are using the slippery slope fallacy here...you should be smarter than that.
My counter-argument is that parents are not ALWAYS to blame, because some kids (ADHD) are genetically predisposed to ONLY being stimulated by such activities, as video-game playing. They have a neurological inability to sustain attention when it comes to tasks such as homework and chores.
The point is, you are reading WAAAAAAY too mucn into this, as it seems many psyche students do. Read the OG post again and use your critical thinking skills to see what I am getting at.
Symptoms of ADHD can be seen even in infants. This disorder is present at birth. Case being, parents are NOT always to blame.
Where in thise whole thread did I disagree with anything ABOUT ADHD other than it can be OVER diagnosed in children? You fail to realize that I have had the same schooling as you and know what ADHD, autism, Dissociative Identity Disorder, parahilia(s). etc is/are. I dont need a "collegaue" trying to "game me up" or educate me on any subject pertaining to psychology.
In no way am I defending poor parenting tactics, which as a result have conditioned poor work-ethic in children.
So what is it that I don't get?
This is what I am driving at. Instead of saying a kid has ADHD becuase they dont do constructive things, look at it from a childs prospective. Would you rather study in school or play video games? Would you rather make your own food, or have someone do it for you? If you dont get your way, do you stop or persist? These are not assesments of a neurological problem, these are traits of CHILDREN with no structure, discipline or boundaries. These are things PARENTS are supposed to endure onto their children. Where do our personalities, morals, and ethics come from at that age? Our PARENTS. Where are the parents in this scenario? We dont know becuase it is not mentioned, but it sounds like he/she/they are not around too often/dont give a shit what they do as long as they arent in their hair. THAT, is BAD parenting and pure LAZINESS on the part of the parent. They are trasnferring their laziness to their child as a personality trait.
On top of ALL that, their are no CLEAR signs of ADHD in the behavior they are expressing other than they like to play video games ALOT, which is not UNCOMMON in children.
BTW, i apologize for attacing you and being a dick. Thats childish on my part.
