What's the point of signing rappers if you can't put em out? David Banner is cool but he ain't even went gold with his album, he got his own career to worry about, so he's not in a position to help anybody out. I know you talking in general, but all I can say is that most major labels only come around when the buzz is strong enough, and they still busy with the Houston bandwagon right now-glad to see Bun B and them finally getting recognition though. Plus most label run by the artists don't have that much power. I guess G-Unit and the whole machine could probly sign a bay rapper and make him platinum, wack or not, but I can't think of too many others right now.

houston is running it right now....bay might get some shine after that happens, but bay artists arent doing the indy numbers to get signed...chamillionaire and paul wall released get ya mind correct indy and sold over 100k copies, once a bay artist does that then they'll get looks

I got Big Rich a major deal and I got a major Label Deal but like his project THE BAY as well as the entire Coast has to support it. If rich Albums does good it will open the door for more, just like if 40 albums does good it will help EVERYBODY! We always complin but we dont support and then bay niggaz that do get deal loose them cuz of poor sales. We also have to work harder as a label and artist be visable got to the other cities and market and promote yo shit. And make sure its quality when you do it, if you give a cd to someone and its their first time hearing make sure it sounds good in their system.. my 2 cents

They are looking for:

marketability
charisma
looks
stands out in a crowd
gimmick
different than other rappers
controversial
creativity
driven
distinctive voice
knows how to handle creative criticism
a large fan base that represents a huge buyers market

might i add

talent is never the key factor, nor is popularity, 50 was hated in his home town before he got signed, so was em

All 4 the Bay said:
Not moving enought units
Easier said than done when the majority of the "fans" from right here at home download everything.

That is the sole reason why bay artists DON'T MOVE UNITS. It's so easy to get that shit for free. I've seen cats post shit on this very board talkin 'bout, "Get at me on AIM for that new B-Legit" and other albums ... C'mon man .. it's cats like that (and there are many of them) that will continue to fuck it up for Bay Artists.

Until the bay can penetrate another market so not to rely on support from home, no matter how much radio play we get at home, it aint gon mean shit. The only other way for a Bay cat to get on (mainstream wise) is they need to network their asses off. Cause that's what it's all about....

But, yeah .. I blame this on the "fans"

Mistah F.A.B would be the perfect rapper to blow the bay up. He is the most versatile rapper we got. He can make hits. He is charismatic. He can spit.If the whole bay support Yellow Bus Rider a major might swoop him up.
