49ers Call for Red Out

When the San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys get together, great things happen.
The long-time NFL rivals, who have won a combined 10 Super Bowls and faced each other in six NFC championship games, renew their series on Sunday at Candlestick Park at 1:05 p.m. It will be the first meeting between the two teams at Candlestick Park since 2005.
Fans entering the stadium will receive free 49ers flags courtesy of game sponsor Ticketmaster, the Official Ticket Exchange of the NFL.
The 49ers and Cowboys met in one of the greatest NFC Championship games ever played 30 years ago at Candlestick Park. That historic game ended on a play simply known as “The Catch,” a Joe Montana to Dwight Clark touchdown pass with 58 seconds remaining to give the 49ers a 28-27 victory. The 49ers went on to beat the Cincinnati Bengals for their first of five Super Bowl titles. Clark has been selected as the honorary captain for this Sunday’s game. He and his teammate from that great team, Dwight Hicks, will sign autographs at the Verizon Gate starting at 11:30 a.m.
The 49ers Faithful are invited to remember that game and celebrate this great NFL rivalry by creating a “Red Out” at Candlestick Park. Fans are asked to show their team pride and turn “The Stick” into a sea of red. New 49ers gear is available this week at a 15% online discount through SHOP49ERS.COM. Use the special code REDOUT11 (offer valid through Sept. 18).
