i have a dvd rw/cd rw drive plus another dvd rom drive.... 2x 512 ddr 3200 memory
its a pentium 4 but i think its only like 2. sumthin ghz,its fast and koo and shit cuz it gets the job done,and also it has no video graphic card and i need one that supports open GL....i was planning on just stacking 4-5 racks and replacing the whole muthafucking thing but then im thinking would it really be worth it,and after searching newegg.com it seems like new processors/motherboards are fairly cheap....but shit..

i just want to run those high end programs like 3d studio max and maya fluently with no problems so i can have the best graphics...u diggggg?

o yea and im running windows xp....im just sayin it has to be sum type of alternative then to replacing the whole shit....i was thinkin bout just replacing the mother board it seems pretty cheap and i know how to install all the shit,moms think i need to become a computer technician but i dont know how to go about finding them type of jobs and shit anyways thats neither here or there...

basically it was pretty much a stock computer from like 2004 it was expensive but it was also a gift and i know at the time it was worth 2racks or more i just upgraded the memory...i have hella software on it from music production,graphic design,and video editing software

well youd need a better video card, ram and processor. Thats why they have quad cores right now.. lots of multi tasking abilities. If you want to get the most of your system and have a pretty good video card and some ram.. you COULD overclock it, but it voids the warranty on the videocard. You should run a benchmark on your computer to see whats up.

when i went to frys electronics they had helllllllla fucking graphics video cards,and dude was like he didnt wanna sell me nuthin at the time cuz i would prolly end up returning it because they got sum that install different,liek pci slots and sum other shit and i didnt and i still dont know what i have inside that bitch in order to get it,but im thinking it has sumthing to do with the motherboard....if i can just get a good deal on sum of this shit ill install it myself...uz them mafuckas that do it for u be gettin over,cuz alot of that shit be simple to do

he probably meant that there was pci and pci-express aka pci-e.. which is about half the size of a regular slot. I just recently got a new video card because i kept getting the blue screen and my shit kept freezing til finally my video card died out. I had a 128ddr.. now i have a 512mb ddr, Nvidia. I notice a difference in quality of the images/videos.

A benchmark is like a program you use on the computer to tell you about the computer and what it can and cant handle.. like programs and all that.

how can i find a benchmark...do websites offer that? i have a totally different computer that i use internet for and i rarely put my production computer online unless i need an extreme upgrade,but at times i will just to see what it do like that crucial website thing...umm

so lets just say i have a rack,can i get upgrades that will run those high end programs i listed to work fluently with no problems and with the best graphics,,haha when i look at 3d studio max my 3d shit looks like boxes,it dont even look realistic or how 3d is suppose to look,and it is hella slow cuz it takes up alot

first of all.. you just want performance? or you actually gonna use it for like video production, music production, photographic design? or anything that would make your computer work a little harder. Second.. if you want a bang for your buck.. go with AMD.. theyre cheaper than Intel chips.. and also Intel is more for multimedia stuff like video editing and all that.. (cheaper mac) and AMD is more for gaming.. but i use AMD for non-gaming purposes and the result is the same as Intel, i went from intel to amd.. i dont think ill go back.

Intel is killin them in price and performance....across the board. They also have more dual core and true quad-core processors on the market. AMD is just now releasing a quad-core. Instead of it being 2 dual-core cpus running side by side. Your statement would have been 100 percent true a couple of years ago....but not now.

@MDeBruce

There is a good chance that the processor you have will not be supported by the socket standard used today. Most likey you have a 478 socket...Intel uses a 775 Socket now.
so i need to rip out my old shit and upgrade to a newer and better intel aswell as upgrading the motherboard aswell to accomadate for it... can u find me sumthin thats like 500$ total price for both?
