yea like most they cats said before, when u first start it's pretty hard work but after you get seniority (30 days) you're backed by the union so you can slack off a LOT. Haha, well I work at the metro DC hub for UPS and we have the LOWEST service out of every UPS hub so I can only speak from working here lol. Loading is a bitch cuz u gotta scan every package before you load it but it aint that hard. When shit gets backed up I just be like fuck it and I throw it in without scanning it. My truck has the worst missed scans frequency on my belt.. the other night out of 200 audits I missed like 26 so yea. After 30 days as long as you don't miss no work you can put in ur letter of intent and become a supervisor tho so that's hella kool. They make a little over 2 times what us loaders make but they can't get as much overtime and they aint part of the union so it's kinda 50.50 I guess. I'd say the easiest job is unloading, sorting, or pickoff.. or sometimes foos get tha revenue recovery jobs those are fuckin chill. They just chill by the conveyer belt and scan some packages, check the weight, shit like that. It's nothing. At the end of the shift me and sum foos just be lounging for like an hour milkin that clock. But yea, once u get seniority you're pretty much set.

depending how long you wanna labor.... ups pays for 90% of your medical n dental. 1st three yrs you get two weeks off vacation; 3-5 years get three weeks off; 5-10 gets you five weeks; everything after that you get like 6-8 weeks off. I think if you dont use the time up, you can either have it cashed out, or roll it over to the next year. I remeber fools taking months off at a time.

you can NOT steal shit from your own truck. any "lost packages" will be taken out of you(r) (or your contractors) paycheck. you're responsible for that shit until the recipient gets it.

if any packages are left unscanned on your scanner at the end of the day, and you can't scan the package because it's "missing" then the scanner will take note of it when you log off for the day and upload all the delivery information to the FedEx server. eventually, you'lle get charged for the lost package. if you scan the package and THAT goes missing, the recipient will call in and say they didn't receive their package. within 2 weeks, you'lle have to visit this person and have them sign something stating that they got the package. if they don't sign it, then you're getting charged for the lost package.

and some people will try to pull a lick on FedEx.... if the recipient DOES get the package... and he or she calls up FedEx and says it's missing... then thats on you. whether or not that person got it or not, then you gotta get the police involved. so if that person really did get the package and then lied saying it's missing, then he or she will get spooked about the police and the package will "mysteriously" turn up a day or two later.

we pay 17 a month to the union but yea it's hella koo and right now im goin to AACC it's 88 dollars a credit hour and UPS is paying for all of it including my books. The have sum Teamsters scholarship for children and grandchildren of teamsters.. i think it's funny cuz it's the James Hoffa memorial scholarship hahahaha. But if your kids are in school I guess it's koo to take money from a mobster.

Doode talkin bout missed packages at FedEx.. wooh, that's fucked. At UPS we don't gotta pay for "lost packages" UPS pays for that shit and they get hella pissed at the SUPERVISOR.. Shieet, we union he aint so you can picture who's gonna get fired nah mean. That's sum of the risks involved with becoming supe. But yea, I get pissed when them 17 dollars come out of my check but it's nothin. It's like 100 when you first become union taken out in 25 dollar increments then 17 a month.

if its @ home delivery, you unload trailers and put boxes on palletes for the drivers

if its @ ground, you unload trailers and load the trucks up

this a old thread

I don't make enough at UPS to live off cuz I'm just loading right now nah mean. If I worked twilight shift I could work doubles on the night shift at 13.50 an hour but I work the night so no doubles for us. But, if you're 21 as soon as opening comes for package delivery driver just put a bid in. Unlike most other UPS jobs, it aint senority. You just put a bid in and first come first serve you make like 70 Gs a year, it's hella koo. You could also look into being a supervisor but they OWN your ass if you're a supe. Comes with the territory. If you talkin bout strictly money tho, FedEx is the way to go. As long as you're 21 go and try to be a driver mayn.
