Kee... Make something for everybody. period. If you make a few radio playable hits for the women, then you'll gain probably the most important fan base, in my opinion. If the females dig your music, then it's gonna get bought. If they aren't buyin' it, their husband, boyfriend, sugardaddy etc... will buy it for them. Of course the fanbase that you established from day 1 is extremely important, but you definitely can't go wrong making hits for the ladies. People have mentioned Beesh a few times on this topic.... he made hits for the women and bubbled. He's still makin them, as well as stuff for the homies. You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned growth. You as an emcee/ artist are at a different point in your life than you were 10-15 years ago. Make power moves homie, I'd love to see you bubble all over, it's long overdue.
