I know there are more than a few Dago Compilations out there including the "South East Streets" due out soon. I'm workin on a few mixtapes now and I hope to get some of the rappers I have met and networked with on it. I'm comin from the DJ point of view, havin niggas rock over mainstream and Underground Instrumentals, mixed up with original SD tracks. But I'm comin from the Gutter, I aint a Major player in this yet, I aint rockin no clubs, just a DJ who hauls speakers and turntables from Gig to Gig. So I gotta work with the cats that is willing to put in that work and expose themselves. And when the Bread is right I'll be getting at these Major Dago cats who is chargin for 16 bars.. But for now I do my best to expose Dago artists, Droppin Mitchy or LIL CS in between Lil Jon and 50 cent at house parties that I been doin from San Ysidro to Racho Penasquitos for the last 5-7 years. And as far a funk between sets/rappers, you gotta know who is willing to put the music first. Like Coop said you aint about to settle no 30 year funk with a compilation, but aint no harm in askin this cat or that cat if they wanna drop a verse, and let em know who else is gonna be featured on it. And as a DJ I may not be able to pay the rappers on my mixtapes but I'm lettin them know that I'm gonna do my best to promote the project and get they name out there more. But San Diego is bubblin...So many talented producers and artists in the city, we gettin there.
My 2 cents
