Well i usta sell Sony laptops n id say thats not the best, n not the worst also, id try to aim at sumtin higher than 2ghz, they are better, that one you wanntin to buy is a 1ghz, which is not that good, but then, it also depends what you are using it for. The harddrive of 40gb is good, ram is 512, also good, has a cd-rw/dvd, also good, a 11 inch screen which is kinda small for a laptop, but it will do the job, sony has good quality shit. so id say it wuld be a 7/10 to rank,which aint that bad, if i was gettin one i'd get somethin like this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=38122&item=3485181401&rd=1 but hey like i said it really depends what u decide 2 use it for, hope that info helped

If you are looking for something more reliable, like something for business. I would suggest you check out some iBooks. Sure they may not be as pretty or as fast as some of the other brands out now, but its about stability. I forgot where the Apple store was at in Frisco, but you should check it out.

But its a pentium M preocessor which the guy at compusa said a 1 ghz is equal to a 1.7 ghz. the reason I ike it is because of the smaller size and oviously the built in camera. I will be using it for pretty much anything. I also like the xbrite screen.

But I do like what the one you suggested siccmadeloc has to offer. the only thing is that it is huge. the thing weighs over 9 pounds compared to the 3.11 the other one weighs. and it has a full size keyboard which is just ridiculous. its like a desktop disguised as a notebook

Just remember, looks arent everything. Its the dudes job at CompUSA to try and make the sale. But its your cheddar mayne. 1.7 ghz aint shit nowadays compared to processors out now that go up to like 3.2 ghz, maybe more. I got my PC like 2 years ago, and its 1.8 ghz. As you said, you will pretty much use it for everything, so you can get it if you like. Just do some research on it before you make the purchase. Do this with any impulse buy item.

thats what I am doing. but there is no way in hell I am getting an apple. I think I will go with the one the other dude recommended though. I Probably wouldnt even really ever use the camera on the other one anyways.

don't buy a gateway i use to work for they customer service dept.
man you know how manny laptops we use to have to service?
all most more than desktops, and then on top of all that you gotta wait 7 ( yeah right ) to ten days to get it back and you gotta pay for shiping and watch out for all the sur charges (that company was crazy)
i don't know about the cali branches but in wa. we only had two and both were in seattle/lynnwood (think the city and fairfield)for the whole state so be sure to look at after you get what you got what's gonna happen

fuck with these people i got my laptop through them www.sagernotebooks.com they dont use mobile procs in thier laptops so their fast.....they got diffrent pacakges depending on your price range but its a damn good computer, just as good as my desktop....and thats a powerful machine too..

I know they ain't that popular, but my brother and dad both got Toshiba laptops, and they haven't had any problems with them for over a year. My other brother has an HP (Compaq), and it's had a grip of problems. Sonys are overpriced, you can get more for your money somewhere else. Even their desktops have always costed a grip, and I thinks it's their futuristic type of look is what sells them, kuz their's nothing special about em.

good shit man, I heard about gateways and their software issues. I ended up getting the sony vaio the first guy recommended. this thing is a monster though
