The reported seven-year, $100 million deal has $41 million in guaranteed money and would make him the highest-paid defensive player. The total value of the contract reportedly could climb to as much as $115 million.
He is expected to be in Washington today for a physical and to put the finishing touches on the contract. The team could introduce him as early as this afternoon.
Haynesworth led the Titans with a career-high 8 1/2 sacks this season. He also had 75 tackles, 22 quarterback pressures, seven tackles for loss and forced a team-high four fumbles.
The Redskins also achieved one of their major offseason goals around the midnight stroke that signaled the start of free agency, agreeing to terms for a six-year, $54 million contract with DeAngelo Hall.
The deal includes $22.5 million in guaranteed money, giving the 25-year-old cornerback his second big payday in as many years. Hall was guaranteed around $24 million in a seven-year, $70 million contract he signed a year ago with Oakland, but he struggled to adjust to the Raiders' man-to-man defense and was waived after eight games.
