Why? Uhhh...maybe becuase PO didnt HAVE a big man! Look ove the years, every champion team has had a good BIG MAN (excpet Chicago of course, but thats a huge exception).

GOOD big men WIN rings.
Exactly. I remember the last dominant college big man who had a bad summer league. I think he has about 4 or 5 rings now.

The one thing I find funny is Blazers fans now saying things like, ''it's ok, this wasn't our year'' and ''no big deal, maybe we'll get another lottery pick next year'', etc...when just after the draft, it was PLAYOFFS HERE WE COME, GONNA WIN CHAMPIONSHIPS SOON, WE'RE SMASHING ON THE LAKERS, WARRIORS, ETC OUT WEST, YADA YADA YADA...

I hope this kid recovers and is as good as he can be, but he will not be this 'star' everyone thinks. Sorry, but I see him as maybe 1-2 tiers below Amare (I used him because he's been mentioned before).

^^^I never said we would smash on anybody. With Oden, I did think we would be back in the playoffs, but probably wouldnt get past the first round. Now that he's out, chances are we're not going to the playoffs. There are positives coming from this though, and I would rather focus on those than cry about Oden being out for the year. As far as his star, who cares? Tim Duncan is hardly a star, but he is a great ball player with plenty rings on his fingers.

edit: And who cares about beating the lakers? lol

LOL...Tim Duncan not a star?! Are you serious? By 'star', I'm not talking about a pop star, I'm talking about an elite in the league, which Duncan is. 'Star' as in a top-tier player.

And, while you may not have (I don't know), there were plenty of others hyping up the worth of this kid and what the Blazers will do now that Oden's on the roster...with the ''CHAMPIONSHIP SQUAD" including Aldridge, Roy, etc...and suddenly, even DARIUS MILES, of all people, is considered a stud (no homo lol).

I like Oden...but the hype around him is ridiculous...

Oden is also going to be a top tier player in the NBA. He is a part of the new era of quality big men along with Amare Stoudemire and Dwight Howard. Looks like pretty good company to me. Now in his first year (which apparently is going to be next year) he won't be up to par with where those guys are today, but should have comparable if not better rookie year production as those guys did. Don't kid yourself into thinking that in a few years a team with Oden, Aldridge and Roy won't be able to contend for a title. As far as Miles, I'm pullin for him, and hope he does good, but I don't think any logical Blazer fan is going to label him anything close to a stud.

hahaha! Oh but you past up on Durant, just like you past up on MJ to take a big man. Why did you pass up on durant.... to take a big man. The Blazers screw up again. Who would of thought, I did.
because the last what like 8 or 9 rings won have had either Shaq, duncan, or ben Wallace.... not players like Tracy Mcgrady, Paul perice, Allen iverson, or anyother high scorin SG or SF

o we'll still smash the lakers!!! haha

But yeah saying your gonna get in at the 8th seed doesnt make it our year. Thats not us saying THIS IS OUR YEAR. thats retarded, yes big things were expected, and if you were a Portland fan and followed the team, we were already thinkin playoffs before we got the number 1 pick, granted we did still have Z-Bo, but I think lamarcus can easily fill that role

Shaq had Kobe.
Duncan had...err...Manu? LOL
Wallace had Rip.

I realize that the BIG MEN are a huge part of the championship teams...but I had to point that out.
