So far Oden has been a huge bust at summer league and shown to be very injury prone (wrist, back, tonsils and now his knee) while Durant hasn't exactly had the greatest summerleague he seemed to impress a lot at Team USA workouts already.

is that a repeat of Sam Bowie-Michael Jordan ??? LOL

Just read Oden is going to have knee surgery... Tough break for the Blazers... Hope he doesn't turn into another unfortunate pick for the Blazers.

Oden set for knee surgery
The Blazers' rookie center will undergo an exploratory procedure after experiencing pain

The Oregonian Staff

The Trail Blazers' promising season took an unexpected gloomy turn Monday, just three weeks before it officially was set to begin.

The team announced that Greg Oden, the talented rookie center who was selected No. 1 in this year's NBA draft, is expected to undergo exploratory arthroscopic knee surgery Thursday after enduring ongoing pain in his right knee.

Blazers officials would not comment beyond a four-sentence news release issued Monday evening that said Oden underwent a magnetic resonance imaging last week and results revealed that he might have cartilage problems in the knee.

A team source told The Oregonian that the MRI results were inconclusive and that the damage could be as minor as a cartilage injury or as major as a ligament tear. The source added that if doctors find something more severe, they would operate immediately Thursday.

Oden's agent, Mike Conley Sr., said Oden does not recall a specific incident that caused the injury, only that he experienced nagging pain last week.

"He cannot remember injuring his knee at all," Conley said. "I guess he just felt some discomfort. Greg can't remember when he hurt it."

The Blazers selected Oden ahead of Kevin Durant with the top pick in June's draft, a move many experts believed would help shape the team into a championship contender in the coming years.

Oden was expected to team with other gifted young players such as 2006-07 rookie of the year Brandon Roy and NBA first-team all-rookie selection LaMarcus Aldridge to form one of the league's best young lineups.

Any severe injury to Oden would greatly derail the Blazers' rebuilding efforts.

A timetable for Oden's return will be set after the arthroscopic surgery, which will be performed by Trail Blazers team physician Don Roberts at Southwest Washington Medical Center in Vancouver.

durant is gonna be far more of a popular player winning MVP's, scoring titles, 3pt shootin, and shit like that while oden will be blockin shots, and cloggin the lane and doin other things to help blazers win.... not to mention all the good teams have a really good PF or a C. In this case, we have 2 young STUDS in oden and alderidge!

Calling oden a bust is stupid.. injury prone? yeah, maybe so? but its not like hes out for the season or ne of that. Its little things anyway, plus he played through his injured wrist and still killed.

maybe im biast being a blazer fan. who knows. either way, oden aint a bust until he plays. IMO!

He's having exploratory surgery which basically means they're gonna make a tiny incision and run a little camera in there to see if anything needs to be fixed. It could be serious, it could be nothing. Chances are he's not gonna need microfracture, and if he does, his body is young and healthy enough to bounce right back (as far as returns from microfracture go). Interesting that a guy who's screen name is Amare would call somebody who MIGHT need surgery and might not a bust, yet he's enough of a fan of Amare Stoudemire to make it his siccness name. Was Amare a bust when he had microfracture? And to say Oden is injury prone I think is a bit unfair. You cant count tonsils as a damn injury! So that leave a broken wrist (which could happen to anybody) and this thing with his knee which may turn out to be nothing other than a little soreness.

^^^^^Thats real talk! Sam Bowie is a weenie. Oden played hard in college. He has heart. Even when he runs out of gas he plays hard! Give the guy a couple years before you call him a bust. He ain't no Shaq, but I see him as being a very key componet to the Blazers. With him in the line up, it will create opportunities for his teammates. They already look good on paper imo.

CALM DOWN CALM DOWN, ITS ONLY A MICROSCOPIC PROCEDURE, HE'LL BE JUST FINE. THE REASON FOR HIS SMALL INJURIES: HE HAS TO PUT ON SOME WEIGHT AND ADD SOME MUSCLE, SAME WITH DURANT.

He's fine...this bozo called his tonsils being takin out ...injury prone? He's 7'1 and big,and he probably has played to much over the last 4 years because of all the slimeball AAU fucks, and other clowns over-using him in the off-season.He needs to worry about the NBA now,and developing his mid-range game...and he'll never be a bust as long as he suits up.He's only being counted on to score 8-12 points a game for now,he's there for DEFENSE,and DEFENSE,and a little DEFENSE.
