Lets keep this motherfucker rolling! Next thing we to look forward to is re-signing of our players and the draft. We know that we definitely need to re-sign a ton of our own guys and look for WR(#1 need), CB(Brock sucks, Spencer will be gone), RB(Frank only has so many years left), RG(might lose Snyder, Rachal is gone), OLB(might lose Brooks) in the draft.

49ers add receiver to offseason roster
http://www.csnbayarea.com/blog/nine...o-offseason-roster?blockID=641232&feedID=2800

The 49ers signed receiver John Matthews, who spent 13 weeks on the team's practice squad, to a reserve/future contract for the 2012 season.

Teams are allowed to sign players who did not finish the 2012 season on NFL rosters to reserve/future contracts. The contract does not officially begin until March 13, the first day of the new league year.

Matthews (6-foot, 200 pounds) played at the University of San Diego under 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh.

Last week, the 49ers signed seven players to reserve/future contracts: Center Chase Beeler, tackle Derek Hall, safety Mark LeGree, defensive back Cory Nelms, receiver/long-snapper Kyle Nelson, tight end Konrad Reuland and linebacker Michael Wilhoite.

49ers look to sign, re-sign players at the right price
http://www.csnbayarea.com/blog/nine...sign-players-at-th?blockID=642208&feedID=5884

The 49ers have exclusive negotiating rights for another six weeks with each of their players who do not have contracts for next season.

On March 13 at 1 p.m., free agency is scheduled to begin. That's when teams can begin signing free agents who ended the season with other clubs.

Q: Are 49ers aggressively trying to re-sign own free agents or they taking their time to see who's available in market and draft? (@rgarcia78)

The 49ers offered contract extensions to several of their players during the season. Tackle Alex Boone was the only player who accepted the deal. Talks continue with many of the team's other scheduled free agents.

Typically, chief negotiator Paraag Marathe makes the trip to Indianapolis for the NFL scouting combine and meets with many of the agents who represent 49ers players.

The 49ers have a value in mind for all of their players. And when free agency begins, general manager Trent Baalke and Marathe will have assigned a value to all of the free agents throughout the NFL.

So the oft-asked question -- will the 49ers sign (fill in the blank)? -- is an impossible question to answer.

Let's say -- and we're just making up these numbers -- that the 49ers believe cornerback Carlos Rogers' value to the 49ers is $5.5 million a year. But Rogers and his agent are looking for a deal closer to $7 million annually. Then, the ability for the 49ers to re-sign Rogers comes down how much other NFL teams are willing to pay Rogers.

Do the 49ers want to re-sign Rogers?

Yes, at the right price.

Do the 49ers want to re-sign quarterback Alex Smith?

Yes, at the right price.

Do the 49ers want to re-sign safety Dashon Goldson?

Yes, at the right price.

And the same can be said for any of the free-agent wide receivers who could be on the free-agent market.

It all depends on the price.

49ers' free-agent options at wide receiver
http://www.csnbayarea.com/blog/nine...ns-at-wide-receive?blockID=641044&feedID=5884

The 49ers can re-sign their own free agents at any time. But they must wait until March 13 to begin adding players who ended the season on the rosters of other teams.

More than six weeks after the beginning of free agency is the NFL draft. So the 49ers will first pick their way through the crop of possible veteran additions before getting a chance to strengthen the roster through the draft.

A year ago, the 49ers added receivers in the draft and free agency, but they got nothing from either Ronald Johnson, a sixth-round pick from USC who was cut loose and not even retained on the practice squad, or veteran Braylon Edwards.

In the first week of free agency, the 49ers had to believe they were adding a starting wide receiver when they signed Edwards to a one-year, low-risk contract.

But Edwards got injured, became disengaged, and the 49ers unceremoniously parted ways with him without being required to give him any injury settlement. They cut him just as their need at wide receiver had never been greater.

At the end of the season, the 49ers had no depth behind Michael Crabtree. Kyle Williams started in the NFC Championship Game, and did not catch a pass (Of course, Crabtree had only one reception for 3 yards). And the 49ers had more confidence in a second tight end, Delanie Walker, who had not played in a month due to a fractured jaw as an option in the passing game over Brett Swain, their third wideout.

Crabtree, who is signed through 2014, figures prominently in the 49ers' future -- and for good reason. In a passing offense that ranked 29th in the NFL at just 183.1 yards per game, Crabtree was 28th in the NFL among wideouts with a career-high 874 yards receiving. And he also scored major bonus points with the coaching staff for his determination and effectiveness as a blocker in the 49ers' offense.

The 49ers should be able to re-sign Joshua Morgan, who might not have much market value after ending the season on injured reserve. Morgan is recovering nicely from surgery to repair a broken leg just above the ankle. He should be cleared to take part in the offseason program. Morgan caught 15 passes for 220 yards and a touchdown in five games. (Projected over a full season, that's 48 catches for 704 yards.)

The 49ers' other free agent at wide receiver is Ted Ginn, who accepted a $1.2 million pay cut just prior to the start of the regular season to remain on the team. Ginn's value is as a return man. In 14 games, he caught just 19 passes for 220 yards.

The 49ers can be expected to look for outside help -- free agency and the draft. Let's focus here on free agency with a look at the top receivers from the 2011 season who do not have contracts for next season with their current teams.

(The following players can be re-sign by their current teams before March 13, or their clubs can give them a one-year, $9.4 million contract to be their franchise players.)

Fuck Alex and Kaepernick! It's Tolzien time next year!!

There's a reason why Harbaugh kept him around...

I got a feeling Tolzien is gonna take the job...

and as far as WR's ... I'd like to see one of the following guys.. Bowe, D. Jackson, Colston, R. Wayne, Wes Welker or V. Jackson..

One of those guys could make our offense a threat...would be sweet if Baalke said "fuck it, I'm signing two of those FA's" ...

I gotta ask...why are some of you so high on Tolzien? Just curious. All I saw was the solid game he had against us in pre season, but its one game and we didn't have our starting D in. Who knows how good Kaep will be but I refuse to believe we traded up for him just to have him get rolled out

49ers sign two more to reserve/future contracts
http://blog.sfgate.com/49ers/2012/01/31/49ers-sign-two-more-to-reservefuture-contracts/
The 49ers signed offensive tackle Kenny Wiggins and guard Garrett Chisolm and to reserve/future contracts today.

Wiggins (6-6, 314), 23, was released by the 49ers following training camp and ended the season on the Ravens’ practice squad. A native of Elk Grove, Wiggins was a two-time all-WAC selection at Fresno State.

Chisolm (6-6, 299), 23, was originally signed by the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent and spent the season on the practice squads of the Dolphins, Panthers and Ravens. He earned second-team all-SEC honors at South Carolina in 2010.

By signing a reserve/future deal, Wiggins and Chisolm, who were street free agents, will be under contract with the Niners when the league year begins on March 13.

The Niners have signed eight other to future deals: wide receiver John Matthews, center Chase Beeler, tackle Derek Hall, cornerback Cory Nelms, tight end Konrad Reuland and linebacker Michael Wilhoite, wide receiver/long snapper Kyle Nelson and safety Mark LeGree.

Of the 10 signed to future deals, four played for coach Jim Harbaugh in college. Beeler, Hall and Reuland played for Harbaugh at Stanford. Matthews played for Harbaugh at the University of San Diego.
