I couldn't stand Equilibrium.

I just found it very fucking corny.

On a related note I wish Christian Bale would go back to doing movies that show that he is a really good actor. Sadly I don't think that will happen much anymore (if at all) with the success of the new Batman movies.

^^^ Agree with ALL of that

History Of Violence grew on me big time.

I didn't see the big deal with Juno. As a matter of fact, it pissed me off that it tried to be so "hip" in its own quirkiness.

Hate the Godfather series...yeah, take THAT bitches!

What were your criticisms of Shawshank, & No Country for Old Men?
@CB, Shawshank Redemption, really?

Brolin was the only thing worthwhile about No Country. The film was anti-climatic and not thought provoking. People who like the movie consistently assume if you didn’t like it that’s because you didn’t “get it”. I got it and that’s one of the reasons I didn’t like it.

Shawshank was good – but is waaaaay over rated.

The No Country For Old Men talk made me remember that I forgot to add Fargo to my list. Can’t stand that movie and find no appeal to it what so ever.

I really only "liked" 2 Coen brothers movies.

2-0-Sixx, do you like movies at all? lol im curious, what are ur like top 5 movies..
What are you talking about? What's so hard to believe in my list? I'm clearly not a fan of Tarentino and Transformer type movies bore me. The matrix has one of the worst actors of all time as the main star. WTF?

I have no idea what my top 5 movies would be, but some all time greats off the top of my head:
American Psycho
Clockwork Orange
Pi
Requiem for a Dream
The Godfather: Part II
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest
The Usual Suspects
Momento
Full Metal Jacket
Taxi Driver
Raging Bull
Blue Velvet
Lost Highway
Dr. Strangelove
The Shining
The Silence of the Lambs
Se7en
Malcolm X
Pulp Fiction
Time Machine (original)
The Prestige
Heat
Casino/Good Fellas
The big Lebowski
The Thing
Little Big Man
Apocalypse Now

Too many to list, too many I cannot even think of.

Listen, Hollywood fuckin sucks for the most part for the last decade or so. The decline of movies is emberrassing, considering how many great movies this country has produced over the years.

Recent films lack substance, they lack any real meaning behind them. They are watered down, and more often then not good movies have shit changed because of the investors want to maximize their profits, etc.

Well he's playing a crackhead in his next movie (The Fighter, directed by Darren Aronofsky) so hopefully he redeems himself.

theres nothing to get in No country for old men really, there are cerebral aspects of the film but I view it as much more visceral movie something like watching Deliverance, or playing MGS 2.

What did you guys think about the Fountain?

When you say all his movies have been dope do you mean Bale or Aronofsky?
Aronofsky. And he does seem to bring the best out of his actors.

Like Marlon Brando said, a great acting performance is mostly due to the director, which is one of the reasons he never cared for the Oscars and other awards.

I mean shit, marlon wayans was awesome in Requiem for a dream, and he's not viewed as being a great actor. So even if you don't like Bale for whatever reasons, Aronofsky's films somehow always manage to produce great acting.
