To the media and casuals (nonblacks) it will but then again they all hate on him regardless so whats it really matter? All that should matter is skills but its way to much of a racial thing
it's not a racial thing if it affects his legacy for not fighting Pacquiao. It's more about his personality of why people think of him in a negative way.

He will always be viewed as an all time great, more so even years after he retires which is often the case with boxers, but there would always be a dark cloud over him if he never fights Pacquiao. Plenty of other guys throughout history have that too, for example you can't discuss Bowe without bringing up the fact he never fought Lennox Lewis. It's just the way it is.

I hear what your saying but at the same its like how the media puts full blame on Mayweather for the fight not happening yet, we all know theres so many more factors at this point. One of the biggest reasons for this is boxing is really not mainstream enough these days for everyone to be more informed. Therefore agreeable there would be a darkcloud but its like Manny will go unscaved like he can do no wrong if the fight wouldnt happen and I still believe that has to do with race.

It's because Mayweather is a dick head and a diva, not because he's black. He plays the villain, it's the role he chose for himself. So most of the he hate he receives is self inflicted.

As far as the media, yeah some of them plays full blame on Floyd, this is the uniformed mainstream media though like Skip Bayless and shit who don't know anything. Boxing writers know the fault lies with other people as well. But at the end of the day a lot of people are always going to ask why Floyd demanded such strict drug testing in the first place that had never prior occurred in the history of the sport. Some people will always think because he felt threatened.

And yeah you're right, Pacquiao won't have the same dark cloud over his head, not because he's Filipino, but because he's a likeable guy who took on the bigger chances throughout his career, took more risks. usually guys that do that are viewed more favorably, like Duran and Leonard. Didn't matter that both guys lost a few fights, it's that they fought everyone there was to fight. There will be a smaller dark cloud over him, just not as big for the above reasons.

Mayweather, Haymon and Espinoza Given Ultimatums by CBS

This is blockbuster news, ring observers.

A well-connected source has told me today that CBS boss Les Moonves wants the Pacquiao vs. Mayweather superfight to become reality next year. No ifs ands or buts about it. Word is Moonves has told Showtime sports boss Stephen Espinoza to make the fight happen "or else."

Meaning that Espinoza will be on the street if he does not, and Haymon and Mayweather can say goodbye to any Showtime dates in the future, and that includes Haymon's stable of fighters and also the fighters who box for Mayweather Promotions.

And it makes perfect, logical sense. Haymon and Mayweather don't call the shots, Les Moonves does.

Moonves is said to be uncomfortable with the idea of televising two more Mayweather "fights" against set up handpicked opponents because those events will be certain money losers, just like Mayweather's last two fights, and three of the last four (not counting Saul Alvarez which was profitable).

So there you have it, according to my reliable and connected source, the pressure on Mayweather and Haymon is now at an all time high. They are caught in the vice and it's closing fast. And the only way out now is to agree to finally...FINALLY...fight Manny Pacquiao.

Even Floyd's uncle and father are saying in public, Floyd should fight Pacquiao next.

You ever hear of a contract...that's what CBS/ Showtime signed on with Floyd for the duration of 6 fights. I doubt they will sever the deal...get sued for breach then lose out on the money owed without the option of PPV revenue helping to negate your losses. Example: Floyd lawsuit for remaining fights $30 million guarantee x 2 fights = $60 million...plus estimated/ average PPV income determined off of previous 4 fights = $35 million x 2 fights = $70 million...total loss $130 million. Or go through with Mayweather's 2 remaining contractual fights and possibly make returns that will dampen a potential loss. Moonves just needs to pipe down...and wait for Floyd to tell Pacquiao what he is needed to do in order to make this fight happen. I have a question about these foreign investors...how do they co-exist with Showtime/ HBO and the PPV revenue? What are they trying to gain...a profit? Because guaranteeing a combined $180 million up front to both fighters leaves no room for any excess money to be made. Add the cost of putting on the event with all the stops this event will cover. It was said by Schaeffer that it cost $75 million to put on the Mayweather vs Canelo fight.

I'd love to see a fucking break down on how it cost $75m to put on Mayweather vs Canelo. Calling bullshit from Schaefer on that one.

Regarding the Arabs, no idea what their intentions are, how it would work etc. I don't even know if they give a shitaabout making a profit. Those rich oil princes and business men blow money like crazy.

If you look at the offer carefully, from the Arabs so far as it's shown, it doesn't seem like HBO would be involved. Maybe they will get paid off or whatever. I think they want to see if Floyd is quick to say yes but he's gonna run with,"Why is Manny getting $80 mill?" excuse. It's not gonna happen people!

You are assuming that the contract is simply based on the number of fights and not anything else such as increasing viewership when his show is on, increase in ppv numbers, recoupment of money spent, and other factors. To put it simply think of this like a record deal. You have a six album deal (no 360 and no sliding scale payment from album sales.) You have released four albums and have made a shit ton of money from touring. The label hasn't recouped the money from marketing and advertising your albums. It's time to start the fifth album but the label tells you that your sales are declining, they need to recoup and that they want to see you go in a new direction and work with this other superstar fans have been asking you to work with. You turn in the album, without this artist as a feature. Record label declines to take it as they are using a standard in 99.999999999999999999999% of contracts. You go back to the studio and record again. You bring it to the label, the label rejects the album. You go back for a third time, bring it back to the label and they reject. At that point you are free to go elsewhere and not owe the label any money for recording, previous losses, etc. But...you decide to stay and release the album anyway. But now, since you did this, you have no tour support, no advertising and marketing, radio and Internet presence is drying up and you essentially fall off.

I understand your comparison...it's a good one. No I don't know the back end or inside structure of Mayweather's contract...but just by going off of what most articles have stated he is guaranteed to make a $30 million base. What are the conditions he has to meet when presenting one if his six fights to Showtime I don't know? Does he have 100% control over who he fights it would seem so because Espinoza said it was Floyd's call. If you take his PPV numbers after 4 fights...Guerrero 700K, Canelo 2.2M, Maidana (1) 800K, Maidana (2) 900K he is averaging 115M...now I can't remember the source but it was said for Showtime to break even, Floyd's fights would have to reach 1,300,000 PPV buys...if that's true then he is off by 600,000 after 4 fights. Floyd's next fight would have to be Manny Pacquiao to draw even at 1,900,000 PPV buys. Or if he faced Amir Khan which would probably do close to 2 million because he is more of a, live dog, than Canelo...and Khan has a country behind him like Canelo. If Floyd fights Manny and Khan in whatever order he can surpass his 1.3M average and complete his contract, with Showtime. The network comes out on top by roughly 2M PPV buys. Floyd retires as the only boxer in history to record 4, 2 million PPV events (3 as the A-side). Thus cementing his legacy and trumping Manny Pacquiao's bogus 8 division titles.

its hard to say Floyd would get that much ppv numbers vs Khan. If GBP is not involved in any way and he decides to fight on Cinco de Mayo, he won't reach 1 mill buys. And I'm pretyy sure GBP will not be involved to cater to Canelo's demands. HERESY is right tho, Floyd really doesn't need Manny to complete his duties to fulfill his obligations to Showtime.

Lets just say Khan beats Alexander by KO or convincing fashion on December 13th this Saturday...then relaunches his campaign for a Floyd fight, also let's assume May vs Pac gets scheduled for May 2015 and Mayweather beats Pac convincingly at this point the May vs Pac fight does 2M PPV buys drawing Showtime/Floyd even on the contract. The next fight, against Khan, is all profit after 1.3M PPV buys...and if they fall short by .3K PPV buys...they can just look at it as great promotions that cost them a little bit of chump change.

It's being reported that Floyd wants 2/3 of the pot. Arum denies it. I think it could be true.... 66/33. Manny said whatever Floyd wants, that's what he wants, give it to him and get the fight on. The winner would get the bigger share if there is a rematch.

lol @ Jeweather, everyone knows 2/3 of the pot isn't going to work. Try again.
It's not going to work if you're trying to over price yourself out of a fight when you said "He can have the lionshare, whatever he wants"...

Well he wants 2/3 of the pot.

If Pacquiao wins, he gets more in the rematch.

Why turn that down? This is after he said "we can fight for free" so obviously he's not trippin' off of the money, right?

Manny last fight (rumored) to be 300K Floyd's last fight 900K translation Mayweather 66% Manny 33% the numbers still look accurate.
That is what I was saying last week..... 70/30, that's why showtime offered 35% of the PPV and supposedly Floyd $100 to Pacquiao's $60 million. So that was offer was a bit more than 2/3.

Why in the world would you go by the last fight? Is Pacquiao fighting Algieri again or would it be Mayweather? Pacquiao vs Bradley II did over 800k. Quite obviously you can't simply go by his fight against Algieri late November. Shoot, if Floyd didn't always fight on Mexican holidays his numbers would be down. we all know that.

Bottom line, once again, is the ONLY way either fighter can have the richest fight in history by far is fighting eachother. Takes two to tango. Or Floyd can fight Devon Alexander and see how his numbers are or Keith Thurman.
