I feel the same way bruh bruh.

Mac Dre was on the urge of blowing up before he died. He was getting plays on the radio when he was still alive. Treal TV was a sleeper DVD. It just happens that it caught along much faster after he died, but people were starting to recognize Dre even more. He didnt have many radio friendly songs, but Feelin' Myself was getting a lot of spins.

I never brought 40 water up now did I. and if you want i'll put it this way they are at the same levels to me. The old Dre was slumpers and the new was alright. I was probably listening to Mac Dre before you were born.

w/out reading any of this thread..ima post my thoughts...was pac a gangsta? I COULDNT TELL U..was pac a fraud?? i COULDNT TELL U..was pac a good actor..a compassionate human with a way of translating pain int words? i COULDNT TELL U..i can say is for me..personally...that man was a messenger...he spoke upon so many real issues in such an articulate way i would be a fool to say anything other than he reached me..and opened my mind..and i defnately think that regardless of anything he was ahead of his time..and plus me being like 13 years old when he died...he was definatley ahead of my time...but as of about 5 years ago i completely appreciate him and his message RIP Pac

with Mac Dre.....its damn near the same except i dont think his overall message was as deep..but my love for drevious is as much if not more than Tupac....i just think he didnt get a chance to expose his deepest message...u know..how cookies crumble sometimes

This is a great thread. People tend to forget that old Dre vs. new Dre is a topic on it's own. I respect everyone's opinion even though I think Mac Dre<2Pac. I'm not going to try and convince anyone of that. We all have to admit that there's a lot of kids that jumped on the Dre bandwagon. We have to be able to filter those people's out cause I don't think they're opinion holds weight, not enough experience (No offense young bucks). People that are twenty years old now, was 10 when Pac died, how much Pac could they have actually listened to? Mac Dre is definately a legend in his own right, the same way Pac was, and the same way Short Dogg is.

Mac better than 40, LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

let me guess you think e-40 is better? Negative!

nigga, think? I know unequivocally e-40 is a better rapper than mac. the thing about it is i lov ethe hell about of both these cats, but bar for bar, aint no contest. e-40's flow is unduplicatable(probably not a word which fits when speakin on the water). the nigga has spit flame for almost 20. and by the way mr. flamboyant was way harder than too hard for the radio, both of their breakthrough singles(both released in '89) and 40 has just been a little tighter ever since. in fact, mack just improved on his rhyme skills when rapper gone bad came out in 99, before that he shouldnt have even been mentioned in the same breath as fonzarelli. this aint hate though, its just truth. im as big a mac fan as you'll find, but im a tell it like it is. real talk!!!!!!

E-40 iz (waaaaaaaaay) better. I know alot of suckaz are gonna cry when I say thiz but IMO Mac dre waz a punchline rapper. To me he waz'nt really all that good. I've been around niggaz pumping Mac Dre since like '91 & did'nt think he waz good back then either. He waz a trendsetter & had alot of character on the mic but that does'nt make U a great rapper. Although he alwayz had a strong fan base about 70% of hiz most current fanz are certified dick riderz.

I'll tell ya this. The first time I heard of Mac Dre was on West Coast Bad Boys 2. His song got skipped time I heard "Mac muchafuckin Dre" each and every time cuz I did'nt know who he was and that shit sounded corny. My boy told me he was droppin somethin called the Rompilation back then, and I thought back to that corny ass cut and just lauged it off. Then I think I started hearin Mac Dre verses on Coolio compilations(which I grabbed for the Messy Marv/San Quinn features, oh how I miss those musicblvd.com reccomendations hahahaha) and was like damn, dude kinda got some spit. So I picked up Rapper Gone Bad, and still didn't really like dude that much besides that Mac Mall diss.

By the time It's Not What You Say came out I was a fan, dude had got slicker and more playful wit his flow, and even flipped that ice cream beat hahahaha. After that was his transformation into his thizz shit, crazy characters and all that. That's when I was really watchin everything he did cuz I knew he was onto somethin and was only a matter of time before he start sellin like crazy. I even was able to go back and bump his older shit, thanks to that Khayree joint. I'm kickin myself to this day for not bumpin that cut offa WCBB2. His later albums helped build momentum in this new style he had, but I still think we never saw his full potential due to his untimely demise. I think the next level was right around the corner. Too bad he ain't got a gang of unreleased material like Pac did that we could thizz to, or does/will he?

^^^^^^^^ Well you started listening to him kind of late then. I've been listening to Mac dre back when Cassettes were the thing to buy. And his older cassettes are straight up Bay Area Classics. I can't say that E-40 is better cause there two of my favorites out of the 707. Besides the group Funxsouljaz. Homie you missed out on a classic cd if you didn't bother to get the Rompilation. That cd had knock after knock.
