Well in the long run lil b wins because everybody talking about him..negative or positive. I give credit where its due. As a entertainer and shock value he gets it in. Musically or lyrically hes not there imo. Hes not my definition of Rap/Hiphop. More like a spoof, comical, shock entertainer.

listen to this objectively.
cant really take this seriously after he put out 100s of "bitches on my dick" songs and whatnot. just sounds like a long ass, slightly off beat freestyle.

but the thing about Lil B is he did something to get everyone's attention, and it's working for him, so you know what good for him. i'm not gonna lie some of this shit is hella funny. so as far as im concerned he can do the weirdo shit for as long as he likes, i just dont really pay attention to it because i honestly dont think he's that talented musically. but people love to get swept up in buzz and hype so as long as he's making this much noise he'll have his devoted fanbase. eventually the shit he's doing will get old and he'll have to switch it up or become irrelevant. until then he just aint really on my radar.

and that article was BS... automatically you know the author had no real knowledge of hip hop as soon as the 2Pac comparison popped up.. thats just wrong.

Props on antilabs giving an objective view on where Lil B's coming from. Never really thought about it like that, but it makes clear sense.

roach gigz just came out with a interview today on cocaine blunts w/some interesting insight from an artist perspective.

What do you think about all the attention that Lil B’s been getting?
I mean he deserves it. I knew The Pack when they started, I knew the “Vans” song and all that stuff. I came out a little bit after them. Then they got into their situation and a couple years ago when I first started hearing Lil B again, I heard a song called “Lake Merritt” and it was the funniest shit I ever heard. But you had to listen to it. I was like man this dude is really crazy. And then I just started playing a little more attention and then I saw how he was evolving and getting his sound together, just testing the waters really. He got a plan, he’s seeing what works and making people notice him. And he’s a cool dude, I talk to him every once in a while. Sometimes he’ll text me out of the blue like “I’m in the middle of nowhere… I asked this girl who’s her favorite rapper… she said Roach Gigz.” He doesn’t have to do all that, man. I just know that it’s his time. I was just with him last weekend at this show at Cal State and you could tell he was on. I saw his little people come with their spatulas and shit. That shit’s tight man! The way he’s doing it is dope to me. At first if you just listen to those songs and you think he’s whatever, just crazy, saying anything but then you listen to his other songs and you realize [there's] real shit that he has to say. But people don’t want to hear that, they want to hear that bullshit. And then once he realized that he made his bullshit as bullshit it could be. And people loved it. But all that other real rap that he got that shit’s just impressive. I think he has his game damn near setup.

As a rapper is it frustrating that the rap audience seems to gravitate to the more so-called ignorant stuff? Because you’ve got a serious side too.
It can be frustrating because a lot of times you don’t really feel like doing that. But that’s just how it is. If you want to be successful, if you want to make a living out of this, you have to do that. And it’s still part of you when you makes songs that are more like that… You just have to be well rounded really. It’s cool to have both sides. It’d be a great world if people really loved the shit that you felt passionate about or the message that you really wanted them to hear. But eventually they will hear it. Even if they listen to all the other shit first eventually they will hear.

That's the same author. And Dregs, you're wrong to say that dude doesn't know about hip hop. I know him and he is a straight up rap nerd to the fullest degree possible. He literally has studied this shit for a long time, and know more about old school Bay Area rap than most people from The Bay do. If you read cocaineblunts you know he's a huge fan of the old school bay area mobb music.
