antilabs while I KIND of see your point, Mac Dre fucked with ALOT of people....and alot of people that had money or other offerings for him so it wasn't always because he "respected" their music.

This shit is a fucking gimmick. I'm not knockin him for being original but since when has anyone respected an ARTIST (again, not a gimmick) for rapping offbeat, making songs about NOTHING and throwing lyrical skill by the wayside. I mean, is fuckin with Soulja Boy supposed to gain respect? Not in my book.

there's nothing related to technical acumen to respect in lil b's music. let's just come out and say that right now, it's not even a point for debate. but throughout music history there's been a fuckload of seminal artists that could barely play their instruments.

rap has focused on technical skill for so long because conventionally artistic progression seemed like it was only achievable via production value or lyrical skill but at this point, for most artists that shit it tapped the fuck out. nobody wants to listen to some polished, technical shit because it's boring as fuck. that same bullshit rappers have been saying for the last 15 years can't be repackaged anymore in a format anyone will give a fuck about in today's market.

that's why lil b, gucci mane, waka flocka came up and snatched the game up off raw persona alone, because nobody wants to hear the same shit said about how hard someone is or "the struggle on the block" over and over again in 2011 regardless of how clever it's put. people wanna hear weird computer noises and "flooooooooockaaaaa" and gunshots and shit.

the same cultural mechanism that made the young people who were up on shit like the sex pistols over led zeppelin in 1977 makes kids like gucci mane and lil b over 50 cent and the game in 2011.

regardless of what anyone says it takes artistry to make stripped down ignorant shit something people will become fanatical about. half of the reason why it's dope is because it's so fucking stupid.

trying to bring skill into the equation is like comparing basquiat to rembrandt. an abstract painting isn't automatically wack because it doesn't look like a fucking lake with birds swimming in it or the mona lisa, it's dope because someone thought of it first and it looks coo in it's own way.

that's where rap is in 2011.

one thing i've noticed time and time again is that for the most part, artists respect other artists because they can understand exactly what another artist is doing and exactly why the public reacts to it the way they do and in understanding others as well as they understand their own work and place in the game, they are never in a position to feel threatened by what another artist is doing.

here's what fans do. they hate. they talk shit on music that isn't what they like because they are a fan and it's not their job to understand and appreciate anything. it's their job to like what they like and most people are proud of what they like so they feel like it's their responsibility to talk shit on something they feel conflicts with their ideals or sensibility.

that type of behavior is hella fannish because ultimately fans get upset when people like things they don't like. they feel like what they like is the best and anything different shouldn't exist and others shouldn't like it, they should like what they like. you see it all the time on siccness and any other forum in which it's possible to be a fan of something.

motherfuckers bitch all day about a-wax and husalah, fedor and brock lesnar, pacquiao and mayweather, obama and bill o'reilly. they comment on mac dre videos like "this ain't real hip-hop." they comment on lupe fiasco shit like, "fuck this backpack shit." they comment on someone yolkin em in a 5.0 like "FUCK MUSTANGZ CAMAROZ R TITER."

people with bigger visions and more important shit to worry about and work on don't do that shit, and mac dre was a person w/a bigger vision and more important shit to worry about so i feel like he wouldn't trip off a lil b.

ha.

his music seems like brain dead music

hey if there's a fan base for it tap into it but that's a sign of the times of the world we live in

i agree with antilabs, talkin about the same shit has been played and not many people can repackage it to a point where it sounds fresh

living for the moment is in and not caring about anything is the content of most pop songs
not like people didn't live for anything a while ago, it just seems the youth is misguided

.....
whats funny is our elders same the same shit about us

Lil B is an artist. A performer. Much like Lady Gaga or Marylin Manson. Nothing more. Why are people so up in arms about him?

Every other day, there is a topic about him in this forum. And thats funny, becuase about 95% of the Siccness hates his guy. Anyone else see the irony here?

Dont worry about what other people are doing. Worry about YOU and i promise, you will feel much better.

This what I been saying. Like I said basegod gotta be hot right now siccness talks about him more then any other bay rapper and he gets talked bout more then e-40s new albums. A lot posters on here are jealous of him BC they wanna be in his position and they dreams of being a rapper or beat maker arent looking too bright and they don't have a real fanbase like he does .
Alsobi noticed if anyone says something positive about basedgod then they get called a groupie or other generic names. Some mofos need to get real and realize different strokes are for different folks
