Everyone's doing these mixtapes is flowing on beats that are jacked... Cellski got Bang Bang on KMEL... Everyone else is starting to do em... So if these mixtapes are a success do you think the new fans who usually listen to the mainstream shit they jacked will feel the shit these artists put out on their own beats?

I know all of us who have been bumpin Cellski, A-Wax and anyone else who is putting out a mixtape will keep bumpin their shit if they keep doin it like they're doin it... But what about the mainstream fans who don't listen to Bay shit? Do you think they'll come around and start bumping their regular albums, or just get disappointed when they hear em? Cuz a lot of mainstream/radio fans don't care about shit but the beat, and the beats between these mixtapes and on the regular albums are definitely different...

What do you think?

I think it allows the artists to showcase there lyrical ability and attract an audience who were ignoring them simply based on where they were from or the beats they rapped over. Myself I think rapping to mainstream beats shows the true talent of any rapper/mc. Because if you don't sound good or cant write an ill flow on a worldwide beat then you aint meant to proceed with anything more then smalltime shit. I dunno i'm just ramblin it's been a hectic day. I try to rip every single beat as if my life depended on it.

Fuck rappin over other peoples beats, it just shows you ain't got shit. Like I said again, anybody sounds tight over a Dre beat. I will put my beats against anybody on this matha fuckin board or this motha fukin industy. I took piano lessons for a minute so try to come at me wit your frooty loop samples! hahahahahhaha.
Hell no rappers will not sound as tight on their own beats as they will on some mainstream shit. If ya got skill then you know how to use a Triton or a Phantom, or a Kurzweil.

See that's what I'm talking about... I mean some people out here got tight beats, but when you come with an album full of tracks by Timbaland, Dre, Neptunes, Mannie Fresh, etc., then come with your own shit, people are gonna expect a lot... Who's gonna follow up their mixtape with better production than what's on the mixtape? Nobody...

And yes, anyone will sound good on a Dre beat...

My view is that bustin over well known trax is gonna help expose you to a more diverse and a wider fan base. That's not to say that once they listen they'll be a fan for life, but it gives someone an opportunity to at least be heard out rather than hated due to a stereotype or lack of expozure. This shit aint new, people been doin it for years, how you think Lil Flip got a bigger fan base? He was jackn beatz and bustin on um.. and that helped raise the stakes for him. I don't think people are gonna expect some major production on your "regular" album just becuz of the fact you ripped a jacked mainstream beat... unless of course the person is naive. Us underground folks do it for various reasons... but i think the biggest is to be expozed to wider base.

i agree, cause if i never would of met lil flip i wouldnt have put out no mixtape cause that nigga got like 14 vol when i met him he had like 8 and he was so hot other muthafuckas was makin they own bootleg lil flips lil flip vs esg or lil flip live from kappa beach galvonston. the mixtape underground screwed scene in texas is HUGE i know.thats why i did it the first in the bay so we can bring that type of hype out here.i been gettin calls from cats outta chicago, maryland, louisana, phili ,texas tryin to get the mixtapes so it will catch on.support bay area rap cause i do.

thats exactly why ARSEN & MISTA CANE completed THE TAKEOVER!

exposure! its about time WE get recognized...and the talent we posses is so diverse. i believe these mixtapes can expand your fan base, and i believe people would cop your real albums and respect your music since they respected your flows on these mixtapes.....and NO NOT EVERYONE SOUNDS GOOD OVER DRE BEATS.....trust me! i know some cats on this board that could barely stay on beat!

No disrespect but damn can't anybody on this board work a key board! Out here in AZ these dudes used all of Dre's beats and put out an album and the only thang I can give them respect about is they didn't make motha fuckas buy the shit, they gave it out for free just like everyone else should do if they jackin beats. Now everybody is puttin out a mix tape, I think people need to invest in some piano lessons and a key board.

LIKE I SAID NO DISRESPECT, ITS JUST WHAT I FEEL

Oh ya, not everyone sounds tight over a Dre beat thats fo sho, but if ya can't even sound descent on one of his beats then you know you gonna sound booty over one of your own beats.
