this is a good post.ill tell you my production is universal and i try to keep up wit the times and i swear i think this new shit is on that level,i want yall to be the judge.good post, good post.imma try to get some known producers for mr.predicter pt 2like(mike dean,battlecat,bink,ea-ski,rick rock, alchmicst, etc)whoever ready to help bring the bay to the forefront.im goin to the east coast for a couple of weeks to get a feel of how they doin it down there.see yall in atlanta for all star weekend.
I feel you... The variety of producers is a good idea, I'd like to hear that... That would definitely get the album more attention from the industry, and that would be a solid follow up to a mixtape where you're spitting on platinum production.

My view is that bustin over well known trax is gonna help expose you to a more diverse and a wider fan base. That's not to say that once they listen they'll be a fan for life, but it gives someone an opportunity to at least be heard out rather than hated due to a stereotype or lack of expozure. This shit aint new, people been doin it for years, how you think Lil Flip got a bigger fan base? He was jackn beatz and bustin on um.. and that helped raise the stakes for him. I don't think people are gonna expect some major production on your "regular" album just becuz of the fact you ripped a jacked mainstream beat... unless of course the person is naive. Us underground folks do it for various reasons... but i think the biggest is to be expozed to wider base.
Well I don't remember Lil Flip's Leprechaun album doing that good when it originally came out (could be wrong though,) except for maybe down South where they support their own... I thought the reason for his success was a radio single and a double album for $6.99...?

I know people have been doing this but I guess I haven't seen a true success story, where someone blew up or even got a lot more of a fanbase because of what they were doing on mixtapes.

As for people being naive... It seems to me that this kind of album is to expand your fanbase to the general radio/MTV/mainstream listening public... And they've always seemed pretty naive to me, that's why I brought this up.

and NO NOT EVERYONE SOUNDS GOOD OVER DRE BEATS.....trust me! i know some cats on this board that could barely stay on beat!
I'm saying, if you take someone who has a decent voice and can stay on beat, they'll sound good on a Dre beat... Saying "anyone" was more of an exaggeration... From what I heard from The Clipse they're some average ass rappers but they blew the fuck up only because of The Neptunes.

His mixtape volumes were hugely popular and led him to being picked up by a major. Then he enjoyed a Gold album and some radio play nationwide because of Universal. The Leprechaun was a hit Down South and in the Midwest.

Not naive... just simple minded for the most part. Give um somethin to dance to and theyre alright.

and about givin it away FREE since it has jacked beatz... hmmm..
Puttin it on the net is a great idea and a great tool which we'll utilize ... but for ourz we paid a DJ to do his thang and then u figure mastering, any studio time and then manufacturing costs. all that adds up... if we can sell enough to recoup those costs.. we're happy.

I guess it all depends on how it's done and the talent that the people possess. I don;t think it'll play out around here in the Valley for us becuz nobody is doin it... We'll be the first ones out here doin it

I think the mixtapes are a great idea. Cellski and Done Deal were the first to my knowledge (although Done Deal's has not dropped yet) but Fortune, A-Wax, Killa Valley, 40 Ounce, even Murder Dog has one ocming and so many others are catching on and it is contributing a much needed breath of fresh air in the Bay Area rap scene.

For someone to feel like its not original tell that to Lil Flip and 50 Cent who's careers are built on mixtapes. What I would like to see though is the mixtape phenomenom like NY where its hot underground songs not just jacks!

Watch for Murder Dog Magazine presents...Nationwide: Block Report. Featuring some of the hottest up and coming acts in the country. We are gonna re-arrange the game.

Also coming soon: PROJECT: 61916, PROJECT: KANSAS CITY, PROJECT: BAY LEGENDS and alot more form the #1 undrground mag in the game. Dont let em tell you different, we dont trade ads for editorial and we have NEVER sold a cover.

Fuck rappin over other peoples beats, it just shows you ain't got shit. Like I said again, anybody sounds tight over a Dre beat. I will put my beats against anybody on this matha fuckin board or this motha fukin industy. I took piano lessons for a minute so try to come at me wit your frooty loop samples! hahahahahhaha.
Hell no rappers will not sound as tight on their own beats as they will on some mainstream shit. If ya got skill then you know how to use a Triton or a Phantom, or a Kurzweil.
YA KNOW ITS FUNNY TO ME WHEN I HEAR MAFUCKAS SPEAKIN ON FRUITYLOOPS WHEN THEY PROLLY AINT NEVER FUCKED WITH IT. I'LL BREAK IT DOWN TO YA LIKE THIS, I WILL CLOWN MOST MAFUCKAS WITH FRUITY LOOP BEATS! IT AINT THE TOOLS HOMEBOY IT'S THE TALENT BEHIND THEM. I HEARD YOUR SHIT, IT'S COO. BUT REGARDLESS IF YOU HAD PIANO LESSONS OR YOU GOT A TRITON/PHANTOM WHATEVER, THAT DON'T MEAN SHIT. IT'S TALENT. YOU CAN BE TAUGHT HOW TO SING BUT IF YOU AINT NATURALLY GOT IT, YOU AINT SHIT PERIOD. IF YOU THINK IM WOLFIN MAYNE HIT ME, I GOT BEATS THAT YOU WOULD NEVER BELIEVE WHERE OFF FRUITYLOOPS!

AINT NO DISRESPECT, IM JUST BEING REAL.

AS FAR AS MIXTAPES, SHIT FROM WHAT I HEARD SO FAR FROM CELLSKI / CANE & ARSEN THAT SHIT IS ON KNOCK. IT SHOWCASE REAL & RAW TALENT ON THE WEST. IN MY OPINION, Y'ALL CAME WITH MORE HEAT THAN THE ORIGINAL MAFUCKAS THAT DID IT! KEEP POPPIN Y'ALL!

GOOD LUCK 2 ALL

^^^^^^^^Dogg, ofcourse samples are gonna be clean and sound tight, but you didn't do shit but copy and paste. I've worked wit many programs and fruity loops are for people who don't know how to use a key board. If you tryin to compete wit my beats you should make a beat on a KEYBOARD and we can have a friendly competition and let the people on B.A.R.T. decide who got skill. I ain't knockin any body puttin out a mix tape. My boy Kee is puttin one out too, I just don't agree wit it.

the way that muthafuckas think about music these days, they might like the sound that A-Wax (just usin him for an example) does over a that Lil Wayne rapped over...but if they buy a A-Wax album and they don't hear any beats like they, they gon say fuck it and take the shit back...like G-Dubb said, most people these days don't care about shit but a beat...

I think this mix tape thing gave artist and labels another excuse to become lazy... its worst than most of these half ass compilations that flooded the Bay...

Lacks orginality and creativity in many cases...

As a fan and customer I feel ripped off... its a quick hustle to get my money...

I respect that Cane and Arsen are giving their mix tape away... thats cool... its a great promotion tool... and it shouldnt be sold...

I think a free single or 2, or an EP with all new original songs would help an artist get more recognition...

Its a step backwards for the Bay if it continues down this road... The Bay as it is lacks orginality right now... and stealing from hit songs isnt gonna help... Creating your own hit song will put you on the map... thats what the Bay hasnt had... A hit song!...
