I understand that, but is was a very poor example. Guru is known around the world, therefore, people who listen to hip-hop SHOULD know who he is. BG Church is local as fuck...apples to oranges.
Poor example or not, the point still remains. Not EVERYONE on planet earth should be obligated to know who Gangstarr is or who GURU is. I'm pretty sure I don't know who some of your other favorite musicians are who you think are known worldwide. There are plenty of people out there doing music that are known worldwide that I don't know of, and if they die, and I hear of it all of the sudden and don't know who they are; their fans aren't going to give a good got damn if I've heard of them or not.

I didn't say everyone on planet earth..i said HIP-HOP fans. I mean, this IS a rap message board, is it not? THATS the point. It would be one thing if he were a folk singer or a mayor...but he was a HIP-HOP LEGEND. And when someone primarily listens to RAP, they SHOULD know someone like Guru and Gangstarr, because without them, rap has NO foundation and can NOT exist today.

Do you understand why your example was apples to oranges now?

Damn man are you serious? Of course this is a rap message board. But it's an underground rap message board. You don't see no Chingy or Nelly fans on here. Those are so-called rappers that everyone in the world knows. They are all over the place. The radio, tv, media, etc... GURU is not, not as much anyways. So just because GURU is so called LEGEND status to you or the several others in this thread, EVERY SINGLE SICCNESS.NET/VB poster should know who he is? NO MATTER WHAT? I know who he is, and what he's apart of, but I didn't follow his music as much as others, and can understand why some might get offended if other siccness members didnt know who he was, but to go as far as being childish about it, I don't understand.

Sorry holmes, but not knowing who Guru is, as a hip-hop fan, is a violation. Sure, people on here dont TALK about Chingy or Nelly, but they KNOW who they are. No on said you had to LIKE Guru's music, but to flat out say "who the fuck is Guru?" is just game-goofy....simple as that.

I got put on Gangstarr through Premo while looking up Ras Kass. Gangstarr's been one of my favorite undergound groups ever since. Mainly because of the scratching. I made a thread about it a while back, and a select few acknowledged it(Actually nobody on here acknowledged the Gangstarr track I posted).

“My loyal best friend, partner and brother, Solar, has been at my side through it all and has been made my health proxy by myself on all matters relating to myself. He has been with me by my side on my many hospital stays, operations, doctors visits and stayed with me at my home and cared for me when I could not care for myself. Solar and his family is my family and I love them dearly and I expect my family, friends, and fans to respect that, regardless to anybody’s feelings on the matter. It is my wish that counts. This being said I am survived by the love of my life, my sun KC, who I trust will be looked after by Solar and his family as their own. Any awards or tributes should be accepted, organized approved by Solar on behalf myself and my son until he is of age to except on his own.

I do not wish my ex-DJ to have anything to do with my name likeness, events tributes etc. connected in anyway to my situation including any use of my name or circumstance for any reason and I have instructed my lawyers to enforce this. I had nothing to do with him in life for over 7 years and want nothing to do with him in death. Solar has my life story and is well informed on my family situation, as well as the real reason for separating from my ex-DJ. As the sole founder of GangStarr, I am very proud of what GangStarr has meant to the music world and fans. I equally am proud of my Jazzmatazz series and as the father of Hip-Hop/Jazz. I am most proud of my leadership and pioneering efforts on Jazzmatazz 4 for reinvigorating the Hip-Hop/Jazz genre in a time when music quality has reached an all time low. Solar and I have toured in places that I have never been before with GangStarr or Jazzmatatazz and we gained a reputation for being the best on the planet at Hip-Hop/Jazz, as well as the biggest and most influential Hip-Hop/Jazz record with Jazzmatazz 4 of the decade to now. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time. And we as a team were not afraid to push the envelope. To me this is what true artists do! As men of honor we stood tall in the face of small mindedness, greed, and ignorance. As we fought for music and integrity at the cost of not earning millions and for this I will always be happy and proud, and would like to thank the million fans who have seen us perform over the years from all over the world. The work I have done with Solar represents a legacy far beyond its time and is my most creative and experimental to date. I hope that our music will receive the attention it deserves as it is some of the best work I have done and represents some of the best years of my life.R.I.P to a legend.

I think at the very least Solar must've asked Guru if he could finish off this statement... but who knows?

I guess the only way we'll have a chance of knowing - is if the said said statement is actually handwritten...

Either way once again... RIP
