what years are you looking at?

the 2005 population of san francisco is 740,000 and the 2005 population of detroit is 885,000 according to city-data... and the gap is getting smaller since everyone is moving out of detroit

::
umm on city-data.com. Detroit (pop. 951,270)

San Jose made a big deal about passing up Detroit to become the nation's tenth largest city at 920,000... so wutever the case is the D's not much bigger than the 'sco population wise...

I feel for everyone's posts on this thread. I should probably consider myself really lucky, coming out from Toronto. I mean, i have relatives over in San Fran, V.A, and some in NY; i've seen some cruel and gruesome acts. Then i compare them to here in Toronto, it's really nothing.

But within the 3 years, the crime rate in T.O has risen more than 200%. Our murders just keep doubling each year. We're already in double digits, and this is only February. Sadly crime seems like it will always be higher than the tax rate. Not a good comparison, but true.

So is it really that bad out in the Bay Area now?

Bottom line......all this boils down to is ignorance and its even being shown in some of the posts on here...the thing that bothers me the most is that all of these killings in the Moe are black kids killing black kids....I hear that a homie of mine gets killed this past week by another black man and I'm down here in L.A. watching black people getting shot down by Mexicans. If we can't even stand together as black people and live among each other, how do we expect to even begin to bridge the gap between different cultures. Just this last month a 14 year old girl got shot and killed during the middle of the day while riding her bike...the motive: none except for the fact that she was black. My point is that there are young people dying on these streets as a result of small percentages of ignorant individuals who feel that they need to take the life of someone else to feel like a man. I will be the first to admit that I haven't always understood some of the dealings and words of JT and Chuck, but as prominent and recognizable figures, I am behind u both 100% in any effort to do something about this situation. You both have my info, so let me know anything that I can do.

And by the way, like I said, this all boils down to ignorance, I just wanted to address a couple of posts that stuck out to me.....

...to the one that said no one person can stop the violence, if the Crips and Bloods of some of the biggest gangs in L.A. can come together and call truces, than anything is possible.....another example, just this week a damn country that has some of the most powerful nuclear weapons came to an agreement with other countries to stop production of nuclear weapons......It only takes one mind to start a movement.

And to the Asian that keeps using the word "nigga" and "niggaz".....I'm sure you'd be comfortable if I started calling all my patnas fobs, chinamen, chinks and other shit like that right?

.....just my 2 cents

nows not the time to be pointing fingers at eachother anyway.alot of people are in position of leadership but choose to do otherwise,not just rappers,however when talking about things like this,things seem to turn bias and contradicting...we must learn how to forgive, i love fillmoe to death but on the real fillmoe brought me so much pain,i done lost alot of my closest niggas i grew up wit since elementary gone before they 18th or 21st birthday. my my my, things have sure changed..its going to take alot to correct the problem,but if we just sit around and point fingers at each other; that wont get us ahead either.

people make decisions and baddned decisions they feel they have to make,i mean i dont judge anybody for what they do or how they do it,its not my job,thats god duty,but however as a living being,you reap what you sow. to fully understand the problem you have to walk in their shoes,get into their mindset and really see what its like from the inside and not from the outside in......it gets deep,but we have our flaws

when you dont glorify it, and rap about the pain that is caused from it. Its like speaking on how its affects people and loved ones. Just one example.
