The whole world is in recession. I just hope this signals the gov. to LOWER EVERYTHING as far as cost of living. If they did that, people would have a couple bucks to spend in the economy.

There are part time jobs out there, but nothing like a full time job, unless you have that specific skill or experience.

I always worry about the economy, I dont care what anyone says, it effects everyone.
I used to work as a mechanic, in a machine shop, worked in manual labor fields... and they always get the shitty end of the economy.

I work in a hospital and its been one institution that hasnt touched much on their staffing, they make cuts to pay raises, but I'd rather have a job at this time than worry about a couple dollar raise. If anyone tells you health care jobs are recession proof, I'm a bout 98% sure that is true.

in this city, without a college degree, there are no jobs besides fast food. and even that, they give you no hours. so im a month and a half behind on rent, and i got no way of making money, except being a taxy cab for the guy down the street when hes drunk, and doing occasional internet jobs. my family isnt even doing gifts this year, everyone is getting cards, and we are gonna just have a little party with some food and movies. pretty lame
that sucks dude, but a couple hours at a fast food place is better that no hours at no place....you know what im sayin

When I say full time job, I mean 40 hrs a week. I said there might be some out there (which I'm sure there is), but most jobs I've seen want experience or education.

As far as hustles and no get up, I work full time (12 hr shifts) in a cardiac unit. On my days off, I work at a small company doing mechanic work for the airports (which has slowed down) and every few weeks I hit up temp agencies and labor Ready (get paid the same day you work).

Even though I am in the medical field, I've always been a manual laborer, so I gotta put my welding and mechanic skills to use, not to mention the various skill you learn or pick up doing odd jobs for temp agencies.
Being Diverse and willing to do jobs have been good to me, so I keep things going for myself.

I got laid off 7 months ago and haven't been able to find shit since then. I'm cool for right now so I'm not really trippin', I have this music. The thing that sucks the most is, I hate sittin' at home all day every day...shit gets fuckin' boring. I'm the type that likes to get up and go in the morning.

If people would stop being so scared, and start being consumers again, we'd be alright. The only way to keep shit going is to keep pumping money into the economy. People stop spending, others lose their jobs...and we stay where we're at.

Its true to an extent. People dont have money to spend since they dont have jobs. Glad gas prices are going down... But even before, people were having "staycations" and shit like that.

If there was a way to lower the cost of living, lets say take 300 bucks off your rent, or lower Mass transportation prices just a bit, pretty sure people would be more willing to spend.

But with people worried about losing their job and how to pay bills... well, yeah they are not gonna eat out every night or go to the mall as much.

Its fortunate that you have the muzik man... some people dont have shit to fall back on ya know.

Yea. I think the housing shit is the biggest problem. Since the housing market sucks, and folks needed places to live after having their homes foreclosed, rent went up. If it stabilized, we might just be cool.

And yea, the music is definitely a blessing. Thank god for folks who think they're super star singers and rappers and will break bread for beats and shit regardless...lol.

Ive been working at my grandpa's company for like 5 years now. Its an assembly line type job, where we make hoses and guns for foam insulation. Well anyways, about 2 months back, my grandpa moved me into the front offices to do computer graphics for the place. Not even a month later, he layed off everyone in the factory. Thats like 16 lay-offs! I was lucky to get a job up here, but now he keeps talking about more lay-offs, and its down to me and 3 other people!

When I was living in WA, there were some places where you can buy a house and live okay off a decent wage. Compared to Nor Cal... shit is just expensive, especially around the bay.

I feel that muthafukaz raise shit too much. Raise rent, raise cost of living... and either your job can compensate by giving that cost of living wage or it will hurt your chances of buying a house/continuing a mortage. I have a friend that works for a Honda dealership, and he barely lives kuz his mortage is 5g's a month...well guess what, shit just hit the fan and now he's gonna try to rent it out kuz shit aint goin in his favor.

Everything is shitty right now. Some companies going under, Shoe Pavilion, Mervyns, Circuit city... ALOT OF PLACES are laying off...

We will eventually get back on our feet, but at what costs? I hope Obama can change things around... he's already got dog shit on his shoe before he even steps into office.

Yea man, it's a bitch. I've been thinking about cuttin' out to a different state for quite a while now, because this Cali shit has just been gettin' ridiculous. We pay X amount of dollars for rent and mortgage, and we're lucky if we make enough to pay rent on a 1 bedroom apartment (unless a Masters Degree is involved, and fuck that). Now with this unemployment shit, we have one of the highest rates in the nation.

I don't know man. I feel bad for Obama, he has a lot of shit to deal with already and he hasn't even been sworn in yet.

My job is about to trim off 25% of the excess fat on the 11th.

I have been told my department will not get hit.

I've heard that same thing in the past & got the surprise "come over to my office" call in the past.

Lets hope thats not the case.

A lot of online blogs & such are ridiculing my company for having a 14 million dollar end of the year party, when the next day they'll be letting a shitload of people go.
i'm invited right? LOL jk

we have a company meeting at 2pm. we have been touched by the economy.

I got laid off recently (last day was Halloween), but I did a little consulting for the company for a week after to get them squared away as far as all the aspects of my job that someone else has to do now.

I haven't found shit as far as a new job yet so I'm gonna be getting unemployment. I just did the calculations this morning and before taxes I'll get $308 a week (probably around $280 after taxes). What's sad as fuck is that I'm actually considering holding off on filing until January because by doing that my per week check before taxes would jump up a whopping $9.

I'm sure I won't do that, but shit is so bad out there that any extra money sounds good.
