It's funny because this thread fits exactly into his verse. I just know from listening to their albums (and not just this one verse) Lock has no need to bite Em or Lil Wayne. Dude has his own style.

I disagree.

Weezy = No Talent (All production)
Lock = All Talent (No Production)
I would say it goes...

Weezy= talent+Production+Major Label Promo+Supportive region (the south).
Lock= talent+Production+Non Supportive region (the Bay)+ No money to pay your way on to the cover of every magizine, music channel and radio station in the coutry.
I think is isn't just a frontline problem though cats like Ya Boy, Carson, EA-SKI's production, Big Rich, ect...The talent is here, but the resources are not. Lock is a beast on the mic and if every major magizine in the country said it MOST would agree aswell. It's all about getting the chance to be heard by the MASSES when you are making music that can be bigger than just your area. I think that's why The Frontline does well because non "Bay-Washed" consumers of music are just listening to the music and the skill set of the artist...Same with some of the other artist I listed. Some people are dependant on "THE BAY" blowing up to get a chance, because they can't stand alone and do it based upon their talents. If The Frontline, Clyde Carson, Ya Boy or producers like EA-SKI or Ric Rock were living in D.C. they would still be making moves because of thier SKILLS not the "hyphy movement". Now some other artist out here like _______(you fill in the blank) wouldn't have had an ice cubes chance in hell to get any love from the Bay if it wern't this hype arounf the Hyphy thing. They NEED something to hold on to to make people want to know what they were talking about. The Bay has skilled artist, but it is up to the Bay to make the difference between TALENT and TEMPORARY.

Still don't agree Weezy got talent, I give those props to Gillie and his ghostwriters. One part of your post that I found quite interesting is, none of the artists are pure "Hyphy" acts. Your point is well taken and unfortunately will be the Bay standard until the bay gets out of the "Hyphy" umbrella that the rest of the world wants to put us in.

the bay would've had a better chance going with the "NEW BAY MOVEMENT" instead of the hyphy movement..

Very much agreed, the hyphy movement lacks substance and is way too inclusive. Cats Like The Frontline, Ya Boy, and Clyde Carson I could say would carry the Bay better with the New Bay shit that people nation-wide could get into. Havin that Bay swagger but at the same time also having nation-wide appeal is the key.

HIGHLY DISAGREE. Let's push TALENT, and stop the bullshit about this or that Movement. People confusing Movement with Fad aka flavor of the week. The Crunk, Hyphy, MOB, Thizz, Yellow Bus, them was all flavors of the (insert timeframe). There was a Hammer movement, a Death Row (Gangsta) movement, a Bad Boy (Preppy/Dancin Rappers) movement. People need to stop labeling themselves this or that, it's getting quite ridiculous.

You say people should stop labeling themselves but you just labeled like 10 groups yourself, lol. The New Bay was never called a "movement", it was just called the "New Bay", which was a group of hot young talented rappers tryna bring the shine back to our side of the map. When they get rollin and get their presence felt, thats when it becomes a movement whether its called that or not.

I agree that he's sellin, but he got the right dude to mold him into what he is now. Eitherway, don't want to jack this thread, back to talking about how Lock isn't going to bring the bay back or whatever the topic is.

I agree, but our hotest new talent came from that crop of artist. People like The Frontline, Balance, Ya Boy, Fab,Big Rich, Bailey, The Team all would have been a WAY better look for the Bay across the country. BUT it isn't to late. Well it kinda is for Fab, because he is the only one that jumped head first into the hyphy, go dumb, shapoopieledoodie shit. I think if the Bay rallies around the artist that can actually be a good look for the Bay hope is still alive and Clyde Carson, Frontline, Ya Boy, Big Rich and others all have new shit dropping real soon to give the Bay a fresh look. Carson is workin wit hot shit, Ya Boy is too and The Frontline have EA-SKI and CMT behind them so there production is on point all the time. Thier albums will be a really good look for the Bay.
