That in my opinion is the Bay's biggest problem...a lot of cats wanna get paid but won't do the work that they should be doing to bring them that money...and cats aren't willing to pay for a nice sound, they're willing to settle for something cheap...I'm willing to do what I have to do to make sure albums outta Street Soundz come out sounding correct. We have inhouse production now, but I'm willing to go pay somebody to master shit and have it sounding like it should sound in order to be on the market.

you hit the nail on the head...cats can't really speak on it. They want to go spend as little as they can on the beats, but they expect to break into the game quick. My FIRST PROJECT, I was willing to pay Larry K $300 PER BEAT...and I would break more bread for the mixing and mastering when it was time, but I was fortunate enough to get the deal I did, and that was because he liked my sound and believed in a young cat....shit took me 8 months and half of all my paychecks to do that, for 8 MONTHS!!! Cats need to do some shit like that if they wanna break into anything....but you're right, most these cats can't speak on it cause they don't know what it means to put together a quality project!!

i remember payin sum1 $650 to master our first album....
and then later down the line was introduced to Larry Funk and was gettin what I felt was more bang for my buck. Overall the sound was much better for the lesser price I paid... I was much happier payin Larry Funk for his contributions to the albums....

Yea, that can happen with mastering...I'm talkin about production. A lot of cats who master are just plain good at what they do. Some are better than others, some charge high, some charge low...but a lot of cats who master do a really good job....so yea, sometimes you get a better sound for less money. But with production, it's real, the more you pay the better off your project will be!!

jay-z new black album has a fruity loops beat on it and its cold as shit. so its not how you make em, its whos makein it. and i think yall are gettin off the point i was makein witch is this. hows a SOUNDCLICK CAT WIT A DECENT BEAT TRYIN TO CHARGE 200+ FOR A BURNED AND MAILED BEAT. thats all im sayin. It dont matter who youve made beats for or who youve worked with. if your at a point where cats that talented are comein at you then you got teh skillz to do that. but if your a cat with decent beats that would make a pretty good B side track than thats NOT worth 200+ if your new and tryin to break in. And thats the point to many people tryin to get big loot for a burn and mail.

Man theres a lot of peepz out there that are makin beats and charging like if there Dr Dre and they dont even got a name in the biz just b/c your known around your block dont mean you got to charge $200. i feel what my boy Tragic be saying so all you producers out there that read this wise up b/c if you a producer you will get your name out more if you sale beats for like $50 $80 and get more MC buying em then saling to 1 MC for $200...PEACE
