Everyone stop they complaining and step it up. I see a lot kat's mad because the kids don't like the shit they put out. The kids are the ones on Goin Dumb, getting hyphy, riding yellow buses etc. So what does that mean... some of these complaining as niggas need to be better role models. On top of that, turn off the radio, sign a petition, and pickett the radio stations. I listen to the radio when I forget my CD's at home, so if the radio isn't playing what I like... I turn the station to something different. There is too many artist to complain about what the next nigga is spittin. The kids love it, they buy it, they support it, and share it. Do the same, and get the kids involved with it. Even E-40 is riding Yellow Buses... to the radio sation. You don't have to give in, just play by the rules. I'm in Sac, and not a day goes by I don't hear Keak, & Dre on the radio. When Federation makes a new joint, they spin it all day long. Politics is politics so be a politician and campaign your movement. Don't get mad... get even... make the radio look for you. Get at these D.J's and voice your opinions... not hate on everything else because it's not what you like. Hammer doesn't speak for all the Bay, but when he was on that's all he did. So support all music from your region and market it to those that appreciate it. I don't like most of the music coming out... but I support it becuase I love the "hustle". I can't hate a nigga for making a million where I didn't.

Fuck I bought half the tapes that used to come out back then. But 99% of the new shit, I can't feel it. I'll say it again, I love it when they think they know you on the internet... I was the biggest fan of the 90's bay stuff and I purchased all of it. You name it (especially if it's from Frisco) - I got it. That don't have nothin to do with my point here. Don't see why you brought that up.

This is how it works - Bay artists made their kind of music in the 90s. That style ran it's course and isn't done anymore. When the ability to download FULL ALBUMS off of the internet became common to most households, that had and continues to have an immediate impact on sales - can't deny this. If B-Legit can't sell 10,000 in his first week, there's something wrong. It has nothing to do with the quality of the album because it's B-Legit. It's been a while since he dropped anything, he's a legend and cats should cop that shit on the strength .. .NOPE .. download. I saw mufuckas on this very board putting up threads talking about "Hit me on AIM if you want that B-Legit". I'll never for the life of me understand why that's tolerated around here ...

It's like this - The Bay as a market (artists and consumers) has not supported itself the way other markets have. THIS IS WHAT LEADS TO LOW SALES. So the artists see that the Bay consumers aren't supporting - the artists gotta eat in order to bring YOU more music. Seeing that he (the artist) can't sell 20,000 in his own backyard anymore, he has to take another approach. Radio is now supporting some local artists, why not do something for the radio? Whether it's hyphy or shmyphy music, the artists have been left pretty much without a choice BY THE CONSUMERS because they (the consumers) don't support. That is the bottom line.

I remember when the bay sound was new to east coast niggaz and they would speak on mobb music like niggaz in this thread is speaking on the new sound. And it aint like its all that different. Is "fuck yo couch" a hyphy song? It really sounds like mr flamboyant to me. What about "its getting hot"? Its it the sounds? the bass? the lyrics? peoples reaction to the music? Also it seems that everytime we get into a disscussion about todays music, we have to talk about why TBIB is not all the way in effect. I feel like the downloading cat is out of the bag here in the bay. I don't think its cool to download whole albums and shit, but people are not gonna stop that shit and start picking up cds again. If the consumer has transformed into simply a "fan" there has to be a new way for the "fan" to support. I think that the artist is starting to embrace different ways of being supported by the fan. Rappers have sites/my space pages/ email all the shit. But why are none of our artist #1 on itunes or some shit like that? There is more than one way to have a following. Hits on a website per day. that is popularity. Put out more dvds, embrace new media. We got this brand new music and new tech, so we need a new hustle. In case people haven't noticed CD's are slowly on there way out. As fans and consumers who spend our hard earned money on music (and not none of that downloading bullshit either) I believe we are entitled to form our own opinions on the music we buy. If we don't like it whether it be hyphe or mobb music we have the right to say so that's the way it works so I wouldn't call it complaining. Nobody can get mad at a man's opinion they can only deal with it or try to change it.
