Prior to all signing to majors, southern artists soundscanned more than any of these bay artists put together. Just cause the bay artists are on the radio more and starting to pick up bds per spin doesnt mean that we are almost there or about to pop. majors wanna sign cats with followings and sell units, bay artists arent there yet, it will probably be another 2-3years IF we stay at the same pace and start supportin

Real talk. Southern indies were moving a higher volume of units. Even East Coast indies move more units for the most part (like Cormega, etc.).

At first I was like fuck this hyphy shit. But about 6 months ago I realized that the whole hyphy thing is really beautiful. It's like crunk music with better beats and better rappers. The hyphy movement is the ONLY thing the Bay/West Coast has going for it from a mainstream point of view. I give props to these dudes for doing it. They're not dumbasses, they see the big picture. And it's not like they suck at rapping either. If you don't like it, cool. But really though these hyphy dudes are hustlers because they figured out how to blow and they are doing it.
