you absolutely right....

welcome to the machine-pink floyd

its like how conscious hip hop died altogether when nwa took over the mainstream..and now how the south is killin shit and the east is mad.
its all controlled by a force bigger than your voice or opinions....
thats why i support ALL underground music...ill probably buy 5 copies of the federation..just like i bought 5 copies of 40's shit. all personal opinions aside. i support this movement we call HIP HOP! period. no matter how u try to break it down in sub-genres..all these trees came from one seed

LOL...Man...you people kill me who think that it was anybody's fault but theirs. Some of you will believe anything that some people say. Before you even decide to release a song or put it on anything that is gonna make money, it's on YOU to clear it. They could have easily cleared it if they would have gone through the leaglities before it hit the radio and clubs. But when you release it and it hasn't been cleared, the original composer/writer/producer of the song has all of the power. They can say that they want 100% of the proceeds of the song, and if you don't agree to it, they can sue you if you decide to release it at all....and it wouldn't have been as much as a lot of you think if they would have purchased a synch license for the song before hand. With the kind of numbers of cd's that would have been produced, it would have been around $5,000 give or take a little. Shit, Game was able to clear "Real Muthaphukin G's" by Eazy-E and "Hard Times" by Curtis Mayfield for the song "Compton" on The Doctor's Advocate for $2,000...and this was with WORLDWIDE distribution. And they pressed up about 3 million more for Game than they will for The Federation....

...and these numbers are not made up, I have dealt with all of this paperwork.
Nasty is damn near right. I believe that if the legal and marketing department at warner would've went at the situation a lil different that maybe the song would've been cleared. However from what i've been told at the label, Corey Hart was serious about not clearing the sample no matter what (cheese) was thrown at him.
