Why do people always try to take away credit from Blacks when it comes to popular music. "hip hop" is not black, "Jazz is not black", "Rock is not black". Typical , just because you want to participate and you're not black does not mean it's not black music. What is it then? Where did it come from? That shit was born in the hood, full of blacks and latinos'. Most of those Latinos were black Latinos too. Puerto Ricans, Dominicans etc. Whats going to be the new art form that whites try to discredit blacks from.
because hip hop (the music & culture) was formed by people that were not only black. I dont see why you're denying the fact that latinos were involved when in the same paragraph you say they were, therefore how can it just be a black art form? whats going to be the next art form that its founding people are discredited in an effort for one race to claim it?

Racism has been around since the beginning of time. Regions have always tried to dominate other regions because they believed themselves to be superior. Whites are racist, blacks are racist, Mexicans are racist...EVERY ETHNICITY has racist people. How many times have I heard a black comedian say the word CRACKER? When the roles are reversed, a white comedian has hell to pay. Don Imus just said NAPPY HEADED HOES...AND HE WAS REFERRING TO A BASKETBALL TEAM WITH WHITE GIRLS ON IT TOO!
Damn you're dillusional. The rest of your post is ridiculous. It is a fact blacks and latinos are targeted by the police more than anybody else. WTF.

As for Racism being around since the beginning of time? No it has not. Racism was born out of African Slavery. Slavery before that was based on a caste system of who were born into royalty or not. Racism did not become an issue until major colonization of Europeans using their skin color as a means to brainwash people into thinking whites are the superior beings.

"Latino" is not a race. Every person involved in hiphop will tell you hiphop is a Black Artform. PERIOD. Ask any pioneer.

Color DOES matter. The reason so many blacks and Latinos ARE poor is because of the long history of oppression and racism. You can't just look at poor people without looking at the affects that caused them to be poor. Why do you think the situation is like it is?
thats true color does matter. but nobody is oppressing us anymore. i have the same oppurtunity to go to walmart and make 10.00 an hour just like any other cat. the problem is niggaz make too many excuses, and they decide the outcome of there situation in there mind before it even occurs. Ok my mom is on drugs and I have no dad, therefore there is no hope for me to be somebody so im a sell drugs. Or even though we live in the projects and still have an adequate roof over our head, there is no food in the refrigerator so instead lowering my pride for a little while and work at mcdonalds, or walmart, I will sell drugs and jepordize my freedom, why because i want a nice car(which is very small compared to the big picture). If cats str8 from mexico, or Africa, or other 3rd world countrys can come to america without SHIT! and still have a dream to make something of themselves and be successful. WHY THE FUCK!!!!!! cant americans living in poverty with NOT EVEN A CENTIMETER of comparison to the kind of poverty people in the 3rd world live in, do something about their situation!!!! Too complacent, and TOO MANY EXCUSES!!!!

Because people lay down and let people step on 'em. Color DOESN'T MATTER WHEN IT COMES TO POVERTY! Like I said, there are white folks that are broke as fuck out there. There are Asians, Mexicans, etc. that are poor as fuck. Poverty HAS NO BOUNDARIES! I know that's hard to swallow, but it's true. I understand OPPRESSION caused problems...but who is oppressed in 2007? Who doesn't have an opportunity in 2007? If people got educated, and went after some shit, they could get it. But, like I said, cats have drive to hustle but aren't patient enough to learn.

The circle can be broken, and if you teach your kids otherwise, the circle will continue.
Are you serious? You think because the year changes to 2007 the affects of 500+ Years of oppression and slavery are not here anymore? Black people just got some civil rights in 1965 now you want to act like we all equal. Damn man you really need to wake up and go to college and learn about black history and sociology.

Nobody is oppressing us anymore? You need to open your eyes man. Learn about institutionalized racism. Just because a CEO wont come out and just call you a coon to your face, dont mean there is no more institutionalized racism. It is more subtle now. I take it you're young and don't understand.

It seems that just about every time Blac folks have organized in an effort to uplift their people... the government deems it a threat to national security and responds ruthlessly (Cointelpro for example)... but everytime we adopt a lifestyle that promotes blac on blac genocide... Uncle Sam finds a way to profit from it...

The best form of genocide is that which is done in secret....:beard:

They way the oppression goes down these days is ultra smooth... one example of many: Alameda County... a large percentage of county jobs were occupied by blac folks... well guess wut? Now they only want to hire folks who are bilingual... Oops too bad our language was stolen from us as our ancestors were brought over here on slave ships.. but wait, that shouldn't matter cuz that soooo long ago...

I wonder how the descendants of plantation owners are doing these days when compared to that their former property....

Oh well, this is wut happens when kids ingnore they history and think everything's cool cuz a couple brothas be on MTV cribs...

To the people that keep quoting me and writing emotional essays in response the points you bring up don't deserve my response.
Another point I would like to bring to your attention regarding the problems faced by people of color is the three strikes law is designed to fill up the prison system with people of color. Im not going to go in detail but the people with any type of knowlege of the criminal justice system will feel me.

Classic sharecropping post slavery style racism doesn't plague the Black community in America (they shifted that to the Mexican's in the agricultural field of employment) but believe me racism has evolved and transformed into something much more powerful because it has now become so covert that it has tricked people into believing that it doesn't exist anymore. They say the devils greatest trick on mankind is making mankind believe that he doesn't exist. Racism is a devilish way of governing humanity and worked diligently to be seen as a thing of the past. The cold part is that racism is nothing but a cover for what America is really all about—Elitism. America has a color problem and it is green. Racism is a smoke screen for much larger issues at hand. That’s not to say that racism doesn’t perpetuate a web of nightmares for people of color (not just African Americans) but if the green was balanced out, the distribution of wealth in this country was on the level…there would be a different conversation about racism in America.

^^^Finally. I was waiting for someone to bring that up. That's the true master of this country. Using racism or any other type of oppression successfully hides the true nature of what this country has transformed to. Rich vs. Poor. Going back to the article, it's the desire for the greenbacks that cause people to make the decisions they do. People from the hood eventually get to the fork in the road in their lives, working 9 to 5 or hittin the streets from 5-9. We have to figure out why people choose the wrong path and resolve that issue. Yes! It is an issue, we all know it. Stop all this ranting about racism this racism that, get off your ass and do something about it, if not go prepare me that #1 with super-sized fries that I asked for 10 minutes ago.

No, I don't need to learn about black history and sociology. I do go to college, and I do know my shit...you don't need to remind me. I am a rapper, yes...but I have a 3.75 GPA dude...from Cultural Anthropology to US and World History...to Ethnic Studies and Business.

I have a question. Were YOU a victim of slavery? Were you alive during the Civil Rights movement?? I mean, I can see why you might be angry about it all. BUT, why don't Jewish people run around pist off at everybody? They've had it worse than any race combined...yet they still manage to rise above it and prosper, and you're here complaining about slavery (which was abolished over 100 years ago).

Better question...why don't any of my friends (who are black), complain about the same shit that you do? Why do they have jobs, make money, and teach their kids a better way?? Why do they decide not to go to jail...and live by that promise and make their lives better for themselves and their families? Why did my best friend, whose mom AND dad were in prison for 60 years, go to school, get good grades, and turn to positive shit?? I just want to know why SOME people complain, yet the ones I know say shit like, "I wasn't a slave...I'm not gonna act like I was".

Racism is always going to exist. nothing can stop that. but what is preventing people of colors from getting a good job? If we have the same qualifications as the whiteman and cant get the job, what prevents us from starting our own business, where it is easy to get a permit, and we have the largest consumer base where we can make money off of. US people of color. too many excuses man, cats just need to get up and make shit happen instead saying it cant happen because something exists. this is america where the only thing that can hold u back is if u break the law period.
