I don't see how complaining about quality = being bandwagon. If anything fans that are upset with quality of music are hoping their artists make better music. If people are complaining about quality they will not buy cds. It's difficult to have Bay Area fans support their own music if they complain about it.

I say this time and time again, if Bay artists took a hint from so-called "backpack" rappers like Grouch, Zion I, Hiero, etc. they'd all be much better off. They put time and effort into their solos and collabs. Not only do you never hear these artists complain about sales, but they make a ton of money off sold out shows.

You can only blame the fans as much as you want, but to be quite honest I probably buy 3 Bay Area CDs a year. The three CDs I buy either received rave reviews, I've heard in advance, or with 99% of them are "official" releases that the artists approves of and spends time on.

You can call me bandwagon, or you can call me a smart consumer. Either way I'm winning and until artists put out better material they're losing.

Also, could you clarify on your "switching teams" comment? Am I supposed to have an allegiance to these rappers because they live within a 150 mile radius? If they don't know me by name, do I owe them something? Do I owe Messy Marv $15 every 3 months he drops a new CD cause we are both in SF? Are we on the same team? I'm confused with that.

Number one this thread does not apply to everyone. This thread applies to the people who, one year are on cloud nine when the Bay scene is popping, than the next year diss it when the bay scene is down. Like I said earlier about the South, their fans stuck with them even when their music wasn't respected, and now their on top, and are prbably gonna stay on top. But BAY fans run for the hills as soon as the weather changes out here. If you're a true fan of Bay music, u shouldn't kick it when it's down.

I'm not talking about an allegiance to individual rappers, I'm talking about a consistent allegiance to the BAY RAP SCENE. Dont praise it one year than damn it the next. Dont say u wanna see the Bay blow, then rite a 2 page thread about how it's dead and cant be brought back to life. That's bullshit. Thats what I mean by switching teams.

what i dont understand is why "we" as the consumer have to support one region or area whole without being called a bandwagon follower/jumper......

i support GOOD MUSIC.....i dont give a fuck WHERE YOU FROM....i SLAP a lot of bay shit.....i SLAP music from all areas....who ever gots good shit out they get in my rotation no matter what there name is or who they are.....what set they from or what they bang....GROWN MEN shouldnt give a shit about that kind of non-sense....

A LOT of bay area artist coming out of the woodworks are GARBAGE plain and simple...just because you from a certain area doesnt mean you gotta support that area BLINDLY in fear of being called a bandwagon follower/jumper

i dont know hardly ANY artist personally....why am i going to have that kind of loyalltly to people that dont got that kind of loyalty to me???

grow up people...

why cant people just have there own opinion....indivdual thoughts DONT make a whole AREA blow up foo, if the whole left side of the united states started bumping bay area shit it wouldnt change the minds of those from the east or deep down south......you HAVE to appeal to all audiences to sell tons of records.....

through every phase of my life music wise there was one constant, the music I loved always came from the bay/northern cali. I never realised it until a few years back, it was just a coincidence, the bay just happens to breed a lot of good music.

I hold no area preference, northern cali just happens to make really good music.

I understand what you're sayin' it just doesn't make much sense. It's like you're trying to cure a bandwagon mentality with a bandwagon mentality. How is blindly supporting a team when it's down any better than blindly supporting it when it's up? For that matter why does The Bay have to support Bay music at all? WE ARE NOT A TEAM!

You see, WE did not go to work today and take shit from the boss to earn money to buy things like CDs. I Did. And WE didn't go into the "studio" and produce a shitty album HE did. And WE didn't decide that instead of going to school and learning a trade or going to college to secure a career, that it made better sense to become a rapper in an entirely over-saturated market. She did.

Explain exactly what WE will gain if the Bay blows up? As far as I can see as A FAN, all I end up with is a lighter wallet and few Shitty CDs. Maybe the pride of knowing that the Bay is Back? But what does HE end up with? A major deal, millions of dollars, and a gang of screaming bitches on his nut sack. I don't know... doesn't really sound like WE to me. Sounds more like ALL HIM. So if a few CDs is all I get out of the deal shouldn't I expect that at least THEY should be of a certain level of quality?

Look, I know you guys mean well, and it would be nice if we could all come together by the light of the fire and sing Kumbaya, but the reality of the situation is that the Sheriff is coming and we need to disband this farce of a movement, go our seperate ways, and meet up again at a later date. What The Bay needs right now is individuality not a groupthink. Instead of The Bay trying to all band together and rush the gates with one style, we need to break off into smaller teams and attack 'em from the air, earth, and sky and hit 'em with a multitude of new styles and even updated older styles. Those styles that rise to the top shall endure, those that don't will not. Period. End of story.

I hear you, and understand your valid point. But on the reals, u hatin on the haters? So what if there's bandwagon fans jumping in and out of the bus. Let em do what they want, just because they "bangin on the net", don't let it get to you. I've been seeing this on the siccness for YEARS. Like when Frontline/Balance came out with the "New Bay" novelty act a few years ago, the groupies on Siccness chose sides. Some went on the Messy side, and the others sided with the new cats. These dudes chose sides on shit that don't even involve them. The bay is down in regards to quality releases and haters come out, don't waste your time on em, that's my advice.

I just wish I can agree with you about "loyalty". I'm loyal to good music, wether or not it's the bay, rap, from the 70's. I mean the albums in my car right now is a broad range of shit. Don't mean I'm on the bandwagon for this group or that.

Mob Figaz - Best of (Jacka just got that talent)
Disturbed - Indestructible (really hard metal, gets me riled up)
Bun B - Ill Trill (Slaps so hard)
Nas - Untitled (Best since Illmatic)
D'Angelo - Brown Sugar (Cruisin next to Lake Merritt type music)

AND NO LIL'WAYNE

So as you can see, my music taste is fukkin broad. I ain't bouncin from one bandwagon to another. I just like good music, and as you can see I only got 1 bay album representin because there ain't that much shit out there in my opinion. The bay being on top rests on the artists to release quality shit. If they don't, the fans won't follow.
